I purchased this as one of the longtime items on my wife’s wishlist, and it turned out to be a fantastic gift. She was genuinely excited after receiving it and has been very happy with it ever since. Sometimes the best gifts are the practical items someone has wanted for a long time, and this was exactly that kind of purchase. The quality feels excellent. It is sharp, sturdy, and well made, with the kind of simple professional design that makes you immediately understand why it is so popular. It works beautifully for citrus zesting, cheese, garlic, and other kitchen tasks. My wife especially appreciates how effortless it is to use compared with cheaper graters. It produces fine, consistent results quickly and makes cooking feel easier and more enjoyable. The handle is comfortable, the stainless steel feels durable, and it cleans up easily after use. There comes a time in the life of any preparer of meals be it a gourmet chef or home cook when one wants to buy the best kitchen tools they can afford. Sure we can zest some orange peel off with a box grater and grate that ginger, chocolate and parmesan cheeses with the same box grater's oversized holes, and use the resulting chunky bits in our food. Will there be a difference in the taste of the dish? Some would say no, and some would beg to differ. I believe it's a matter of knowing when we are using the best tools for the job, and this Premium Microplane zester/grater IS the best tool. The handle is about 4 1/2" long with a very soft, comfortable feel. The sturdy, heavy grater blade is about 8" long, and yes, very sharp if you rub your finger up on the grating surface towards the end. It feels smooth moving back downward towards the handle. Therefore, it only grates and zests with the up (towards the end) motion, not in both directions. The holes are very thin and so are the tiny blades. This creates a very fine powdery parmesan, chocolate and ginger, and tiny flavorful zest from your citrus. You do not need to press hard when you zest/grate. Use a light touch. Too hard and you will get into the pithy bitter white area of your citrus, and possibly crumble your cheese and chocolate. Maybe even dull the tiny blades. The sides are curved under, and the tips are covered with black silicone to prevent scratches if you lean the end on a table to use, or set it down on a table. Best to use it over a bowl without leaning on anything. Trust me, it's not heavy. Be gentle and don't rush when zesting. and grating. You're not a TV chef with a 30 minute show and audience to impress. Of course you'll cut your fingers if you "speed zest". Again, this is very sharp! When you're ready, simply rap the zester on the edge of your bowl or cutting board to dislodge the zest, cheese, fresh ginger or chocolate from the underside. Rinse with a strong stream of water in the sink, or swish in a bowl of water. No need to put it in the dishwasher. Have you ever tried to re-fold a map? That is the same type of experience you will have when you attempt to (slowly and carefully) slide the plastic protective cover back on the Microplane. It is shaped exactly like the Microplane, and very sturdy, with inwardly curved sides and, well, not that easy to get back on. Do put it back on though so no kitchen "dust" will get on it. Treat yourself to this fine zester and you will really be doing your special culinary creations (and even your humble meat loaf) a flavor- favor! There is no comparison between artificial tasting flavor extracts and real zest. The real flavor of freshly grated parmesan, and ginger will be very apparent also. Let us not forget how good that freshly grated chocolate will be on ice cream (home made of course!.) P.S. the blade is made in the USA. Happy cooking!

I have been using Microplane products since they first came out. Their products are sharp, durable, and useful. I have bought a couple of graters from different brands, and they just do not hold up as long and don't stay sharp like the Microplane products do.

Amazing great little zester. Specially for lemon and chocolate where you need finer pieces. I love it. Use it all the time. Great value for money. You will have it for years as it is very durable.

Love this product. Even my 7 yr old grandson used it for grating Parmesan on top of his lasagne. Easy to use, looks good, keeps your fingers away from anything sharp. The fine grating is absolutely perfect over soups, pizza, spaghetti and lasagne.

This is a fantastic grater/zester! It is of high quality and works great. It grates both ways, not just one, and is the perfect size for zesting. Also does not take up a lot of drawer space. It is lightweight, sturdy, and comes with a plastic cover. We do lots of cooking at our house, and would definitely purchase again.

A very effective zester. Nice and long. One star off for the cover. It's a hard plastic tit does what it'she has to be threaded back on to the zester. I find it very hard to match up the slots, and the time it takes is annoying. I preferred my old zester's cover, which snapped on. Overall, however, it zests very well, and id worth the purchase price.

Die Microplane Zester Küchenreibe hat mich wirklich überzeugt. Sie ist sehr handlich und ermöglicht ein besonders feines Reiben, ohne dass man dabei viel Kraft aufwenden muss. Besonders gut eignet sie sich für Zitrusschalen, aber auch für andere Lebensmittel, die sehr fein gerieben werden sollen. Das Ergebnis ist gleichmäßig und die Reibe lässt sich anschließend unkompliziert reinigen. Die Verarbeitung macht einen hochwertigen und stabilen Eindruck. Insgesamt ein Küchenutensil, das ich inzwischen nicht mehr missen möchte. Fazit: Sehr scharf, handlich und präzise. Eine wirklich praktische Küchenreibe, die ihre Aufgabe hervorragend erfüllt. Ich bin sehr zufrieden.

Je l'utilise principalement pour les agrumes et le résultat est sans appel : on obtient des zestes hyper fins, comme de la neige, sans jamais attaquer le blanc amer du fruit. Le tranchant est impressionnant et ne demande quasiment aucune pression pour être efficace. Le manche noir est sobre et offre une prise en main vraiment sécurisante, même avec les mains un peu humides. C’est un outil long et fin, ce qui permet de travailler avec précision au-dessus d'un plat ou d'un bol sans en mettre partout. Elle fonctionne aussi très bien sur le gingembre ou le parmesan, où elle produit des copeaux ultra légers qui fondent en bouche. Le nettoyage est super simple, un coup sous l'eau tout de suite après l'usage suffit largement. C’est typiquement le genre d’ustensile où la différence de qualité avec une râpe classique justifie largement l'investissement. C’est propre, c'est efficace et c'est devenu un indispensable dans mes tiroirs

Mutfağımın en gözde elemanlarından biri oldu. Sıklıkla limon kabuğu rendesi için kullanıyorum ama muskat, zencefil, ince peynir vs için de gayet uygun. Çok, çok memnunum.
