Powerful, Versatile, and Saves a Ton of Time
The WEN DW5084 drywall sander has made my drywall projects so much easier. The 5-amp motor is powerful enough to handle rough patches quickly, and the dual-head design lets me switch between the round head and the triangular head for corners and edges without needing another tool. The variable speed control is great for adjusting power depending on the surface, and the 15-foot dust hose works well with my shop vac to keep the mess under control. It’s surprisingly lightweight for its size, and the adjustable handle makes it comfortable to use for longer periods. Overall, it’s a well-built, reliable sander that does the job fast and leaves a smooth finish. Definitely worth it for anyone tackling drywall, ceilings, or large wall prep jobs.

Great shoulder work out, but the included hose is terrible
I have walls and ceilings that are all painted the same color with high gloss paint over knock down orange peel texture. I hate it all. I bought this to remove as much as I could. First thought, it is not very aggressive. I ended up getting 40 grit (off brand) sand paper and it still wasn't enough on the highest speed to get to the drywall. It works, and it is a lot better than doing it by hand or a smaller sander. I was really hoping not to skim coat too much, but I ended up with two passes on ever surface. I used the 150 grit that came with it for that. Second thought, the "dust collection" is a huge miss. It does keep a lot of the dust in the head, until you remove it from the surface. Then it dumps out everywhere. There is no suction at the head with what you are provided. Even with a 6.5HP vacuum there is little to no collection. ONE OF THE ISSUES IS THE HOSE. The hose leaks badly on both ends. As I was rinsing out everything I noticed that the ends are not sealed and leak water. If they leak water, they leak air. You leak air, you lose suction. I don't regret buying this, it's made my remodeling easier. But the suction is terrible. I will try doing what others suggested in connecting my good hose to the actual head, bypassing the handle and the included hose.

Works well, decent dust containment
I found this worked quite well on a drywall project. I'd say dust containment was around 85%, and certainly much better than a traditional pole sander. It also made quick work of the sanding and was plenty powerful. The biggest drawback was the weight (quite heavy). You also have to watch out for controlling the sanding head, as it is relatively easy to gouge the wall and leave little half moon dents in your drywall. Depending on the angle/height, it can be a challenge to control and balance the head. There's also the infamous 'dust dump' that can occur after removing it from a wall/ceiling. I found that if I stopped sanding while keeping the sander reasonably tight to the wall and let the vacuum keep running, the dust drop was significantly reduced. But also note that the vacuum pressure does not hold the sander to any surfaces like some other models do.

Good tool, professionals only.
30 years general construction experience. Landlord. This machine is a game changer. Much lighter than those ol Porter Cables we used to have to use. If you honestly believe this eliminates dust, you've never done drywall. It reduces the dust, very well. If you think it's an excuse to be bad at finishing drywall, you've never done drywall. It will smooth good drywall work. If you're a professional and have realistic expectations, this is the one. I even found the triangle head useful. Sanded a new construction one bedroom apartment in 1 1/2 hours. Didn't break a sweat, 10' ceilings. Feet rarely left the floor, and very little pointing up by hand left. DON'T FORGET TO BUY SANDPAPER WITH IT. They send you 2 variety packs. Just grab a pile of 180 or 120.

Do not buy! Junk and heavy!
It does sand... it is very heavy. Throws stuff everywhere. We used a 4hp shop vacuum and thought it was too small so used the 26hp one and taped the connection. Still horrible! Just do not get this! 1. Heavy 2. Throws dust and stuff everywhere no matter how hard to press it 3. Takes about the same time as hand sanding 4. Removes popcorn ceiling at about the rate of 2sqft a minute. 5. The head clogged with dust or holds it. When you let it down it will dump out the end. Do not buy!!!!

Works great!
This dual head sander is a real time-saver and produces great results. The only downfall is that the backing pad for the round head wears out quickly. The backing pad is made with soft rubber/foam around the sides as this is needed fir stability and control of the unit. I wasted 1 backing pad and 1 sheet of sandpaper to sand 1 bathroom which did not require much sanding. Backing pads are about $11 on Amazon. To me it is worth $11 per room in order to use this. It is a great tool. I have been a General Contractor for more than 25 years and I am well satisfied with this sander and would buy it again. Also, I used the triangle head for all corners and that pad did not wear out. I only used 1 piece of sandpaper for each head and they are both still very good. The manufacturer needs to include a carry bag for this unit as it is difficult to find something to carry it in. The motor had sufficient power and speed. The slower speeds are all that you need. I used the big 3/4 horsepower shop vac with a drywall dust bag inside and it caught 99% of the dust. The only dust that I had was when you remove the head from the wall and it falls to the floor. I was in a small bathroom with the door closed and a towel under the door to seal the room. There was no dust to be seen in the air. The package arrived on time as it should. I love this tool as it makes my life much easier. The instructions are not very clear on changing the heads but I figured it out.

Gives a great finish
If you are doing drywall mudding- just get this tool! I did half our home (most walls coated in 70's swirl plaster, and others had delaminating paper/tape that needed repair) with a 6" orbital sander (woodworking), and it was a huge PITA- very easy to gouge the new joint compound. This tool was a game changer: No gouging- it kind of floats and has a nicely pivoting head that prevents it (it does gouge a little if you're really being careless, but you almost have to try to mess up). It's super-fast to sand flat large walls (seriously, huge walls completely skimmed with new joint compound). My only complaint is that the design of vacuum is not great (I used a large shopvac and regularly emptied/cleared the filter)- I do wish that was a bit better- it was still pretty dusty, but again- I was hogging through large area's so for smaller jobs it might not be as much of a problem.

I would give 5 stars, but
I would give 5 stars since the circular sanders (which I primary use) sand really well, the triangle is not that good and the rubber in the side get damage with the corners. The main problem is that if you are like me if bought it for the dust collection system dont bother buying it. It have close to 0% suction. Im using a big 5HP vacuum. The problem is with the engineering of the devices. The vacuum channel goes inseide the handle, it is made of of multiple rubber tubbing in each section of the hangle and THEY ARE NOT sealed, they just sit inside the handle channel which make all the pressure leak through the handle befire ot get to the head which if you read other reviews does not have a good collection system itself. Just like other has mention with all these designs mistakes you can even lift a piece of paper. Now I was able to fix those problem and in my case make it works like a 5 starts (4.5 since we have the problem with the triangle head) but it required me to modify it. If you bypass the whole suction channel inside the handle and instead attach your vacuum there it works awesome. You can even remove the head from the wall right after you sanded that parts and 0 dust will fall. The sand paper looks so clean since the vacuum (5hp) suction all the dust. I recommend 2 approaches if you still buy it 1) (like I did because I didnt want to go to the homestore) open the top of the handle and remove the flexible suction tune and attach it straight to your vacuum hose. 2) buy a pice of flexible hose and just detach the one in the head and attach it to you vacuum. Check the picture for context and I know you can figure it out.
