The diameter of the plug end is just a little over 0.75 inches. The diameter will vary slightly from one unit to the next due to production tolerances.

Can this bulb be used underwater?

To my knowledge, this UV bulb cannot be directly to water due to the electrical connections. It needs to be enclosed and sealed in a glass enclosure such as those specially made for germicidal water treatment.
