Seagate Expansion Desktop, 4TB, External Hard Drive, USB 3.0, 2 year Rescue Services (STKP4000402)

I have always found Seagate to be an excellent brand. I'm using this unit, essentially, as an expansion for my PC's memory. It remains attached to the computer at all times. This rather rubbishes the idea of it being portable, of course, but I COULD port it about if I wanted to. Works fine as an additional PC file storage unit; I also have a couple of programs and several games on it which I run from it on my PC, no lag, no problems; it might just as well be an internal and integral part of the PC, even though it sits on the outside in a little furry bag. When I first got it, I did use it for a bit of data transfer between machines, no problems there either. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a portable drive or a PC extension of this memory size. Quality at a decent price.

I purchased this from Amazon to help save copies of my photos and videos from my old 500GB iMac, which had lots of them and for technical reasons could not back them up via iCloud. This item from Seagate works well with Apple iMacs and other apple products so I had no issues. This hard drive can back up data from PC and laptops, but requires a bit of formatting for iMac before being used for data storage. This item has 2TB, which is more then enough for me as I had used just more then half of the storage. I had no problems with this whatsoever and it helped create a copy of each photo and video by simply selecting the file and dragging it in just as advertised and the USB 3.0 cable that comes with it is short but very effective. Glad I got this product and would recommend this or larger capacity items like 4TB if you got lots of photos, videos or other data that you do not wish to lose.

Great for storage so far had a few of them now for a few years everything is good about what you woukd expect only thing I had a gripe about which was resolved is the fact that it said 2TB but actual size is 1.81TB which I would not personally advertise as a 2TB however it does seem that everyone does this I do however think this is a bad practise that should be stopped anyway in light of that they do work and have been useful to me barely taking up any space either

The Seagate Portable drive is fairly small and powers via the USB connection, so not extra power leads are required. We are using ours to expand the memory of an XBox One-S and the compact nature of the drive means it sits neatly alongside the XBox console. The plug and play feature worked well so the XBox console recognised the drive immediately when it was added (a USB lead is included) and the XBox software went through all the formatting steps needed to set it up automatically and without a hitch. Now it's set-up and in use, it's working smoothly for game loading which doesn't seem any longer than from the main XBox hard drive.. All good so far. Will come back and take stars away if the drive fails, but for now, very happy with it.

Purchased this little gem to avoid paying £200 for the Xbox series S expansion card. I did my research on so many of these like my life depended on it and saw so many negative reviews for every expansion I came across. A lot of reviews complained that you can't play Xbox series s/x games through the hard drive itself & it's true, but don't let that put you off. All you have to do is move the Xbox series S/X game from the storage card to the xbox storage. It's as simple as that and takes less than 2 minutes to do which is far less time when compared to downloading a new game. Its worth noting that you can only play the backwards compatible games through the hard drive. So no complaints from me on this one I'm super happy with this purchase.

I ordered this drive exactly 1 year ago to use with my raspberry pi 3 (through a usb 2.0 connection). I've been mainly using it as an extra photo/movie/music/system backup and as such the disk is plugged in and in use 100% of the time, and I've moved at least 1.5 TB of data through in that period. The disk even survived a period of several months during which my raspberry was crashing daily (unrelated to the disk reasons) but not before issuing massive disk read/writes and I had to unplug it a dozen times (and in extension - the disk) under load, and still the disk is operating without any problems. When I first got it, I also did a couple of basic random read/write drive tests (1mb/10mb chunks if I remember correctly) on both usb 2.0 and 3.0 and the speeds seemed consistent with the usb standards and the drive specs, once I managed to find them, which was not straight forward as this is a rebranded (seagate I think) drive. Overall a decent, usable drive.

I bought this drive (10TB version) to use as a media storage device for my Plex server. I run my Plex server on an older (2013) apple iMac that is running MacOS Catalina. When I first unboxed the drive, it looked nice, but when I plugged it into the power and then the USB on the back of my computer, it wouldn't show up. I couldn't get it to show up in my Finder window, on my desktop, or even in Disk Utility. I did all the tricks to show all drives and all volumes, but it just didn't even recognize that it was plugged in at all. I read some of the other reviews, lots of people complaining about how it wouldn't work on their mac etc..., I thought that maybe I was going to have to return the drive and figure out something else (it comes preformatted in exFAT, but as I said, MacOS Catalina wouldn't even acknowledge it was plugged in at all, so there was no way for me to reformat into the the system I wanted). Luckily I had a Mac Laptop with BigSur installed. On my laptop, it didn't show up in Finder or the desktop at first, but it did recognize it in Disk Utility (again, you have to set it to show all drives and volumes in the view). There I was able to select it, then reformat it as MacOS Journaled (or whatever file system you wanted, but that is what I use on my older Mac). Once I did that, I was able to plug it into my older Mac, and it showed up in Finder, Desktop, and Disk Utility. I actually reformatted again on the old mac (just to be safe, but probably not really needed as it was reading, I just wanted to make sure it would work on the old mac the way I wanted it to). As I'm typing this, it's just finishing backing up the 4TB of media from my old drive, it's been whirring away for about 24 hours now, no problems so far. So as long as you are willing (and have the newer macOS available), then this is a great external hard drive for Macs, just don't expect it to work natively right out of the box (but external hard drives rarely do). That being said, I am happy with the price and performance so far, hoping 10TB will last me quite a while (my old drive was 6TB and I thought I would never even come close to filling that up, but I don't like to run my drives too full, so using 4TB out of 6TB was more than I liked, so this 10TB should fit the bill nicely for a while anyway).

If trying to get this to work on Mac there’s a couple loops you have to go through in order for it to work well. I took it to geek squad to have that fixed. It does make a bit of noise when idle. ( gf couldn’t sleep bc it was too loud for her). But the memory is phenomenal
