Great mixer for price. Please read entire review.
THIS IS AN UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW OF THIS PRODUCT. Interestingly, the contact email given to my when I first contacted Novik regarding my issues with the mixer ([email protected]) turned out to be an incorrect email address. The correct address is [email protected]. My several letters/emails of concern to the manufacturer were never received. On July 17, after some additional research, I was finally able to reach the US representatives and spoke with Hilda Garcia. After what I considered and very sincere apology and an offer to remedy the situation promptly, she gave me the correct email address to which I sent information relevant to the issue. She offered to replace the device since it was still under warranty. Within a few minutes, while we were still on the phone, I received the RMA and was able to return the defective unit. By the following week, I received the new mixer. This time I decided to put this thing to the race track. I used it for a 20 voice singing gospel concert. I connected 14 microphones to the unit with two other aux devices. I was VERY satisfied. The ease of operations, the sound quality, the feel of the faders and other controls, the looks of the board and the relatively small footprint, make it the ideal mixing console for my small to medium sound operations. I was pleasantly surprised and extremely happy with the performance of the replacement board in comparison with the initial board. Definitely there was something wrong with the first board. I have changed my star rating from 1 star to 4 stars. This board is definitely worth the buy for me. I chose to update this review because I heavily depend on customer reviews to determine whether or not I purchase an item or purchase it from a particular manufacturer or vendor. I wish to thank Novik for eventually replacing the unit. ****************************************************************************************************************************************************** My initial rating of this would would have been at least 4 stars, except that I am currently very disappointed with the product, the seller and the manufacturer. I purchased the mixer in September 2017 and used it briefly just 4 times between then and June 2, 2018. I was relatively pleased with the product despite a few drawbacks with its overall performance. June 2 was the inaugural concert for a group in NY, and I was eager to put the unit to the test. Connected 12 wireless microphones to the unit and everything was rather satisfactory from the start. I had two powered JBL speakers connected to the XLR main outputs, and two smaller speakers connected to Sub outputs using 1/4" jacks. Mixing was great and the unit started performing very well. However, about 10 minutes into the concert, there was this extremely annoying static noise coming from the main speakers. The noise was so bad that you could not hear anything else but the static. I immediately shut down the system and proceeded to troubleshoot the problem. My initial diagnosis was that the noise was coming from the XLR connections to the main speakers. I switched over to the 1/4" TRS connections and the noise went away. Boy I was so happy. Resumed function, just to have the same noise start again not even 5 minutes later. Talk about being EMBARRASSED to the maximum. Nothing I did was able to resolve the issue. Luckily, the church at which the event was held had an old retired Yamaha mixing board that I was able to borrow and quickly get hoked up to continue the concert. I found out that the company has a location/seller/distributor in Miami, USA. I contacted them on June 5th and spoke with Jacqueline. I asked for technical support for the product but was informed that they were at a meeting. She took my number and promised that someone would get back to me. No one called back. I called again on June 11th and spoke with a gentleman whose name I forgot to record and he advised that I should send an email regarding the issue to [email protected]. The seller would not take responsibility to even discuss the issue with me or even advise on how or where I could get the unit repaired or replaced. I immediately sent an email to Novik on June 11th. I am still waiting to hear from them, two days later. There is much I can say about the pros and cons of the mixer, but I will not advise anyone to purchase an item like this and not be able to get support from the seller or manufacturer if you experience a problem. I hope that they monitor these comments and that someone reads it and gets back to me.

Noisy pre-amps, but great flexibility!
Well, it works fine. However, it's hard to get over how noisy this board is. The main outputs, as well as the pre-amps on each channel have a VERY noticeable "hiss"...even at low volume. No matter how I adjusted the EQ, or used different cables and speakers, the "hiss" continued, and it was a bit more than what's acceptable (IMO). This is the main reason for the 3 stars. That said, for the price, you won't find a mixer with more versatility than this one. The many I/O options are truly remarkable at this price point. The channel EQ is very musical, and the internal effects are actually pretty decent. The board is heavy! I was surprised by the weight. I will say, though, the structure of the unit appears well built. Overall, it is certainly useable in a live setting, but I would not recommend it for recording unless you have well built noise gates/suppressors... I didn't try the USB or SD card function, so I can't speak to that. I simply plugged my phone in, and playback music sounded great! For the price, it's a decent board. Invest in some noise gates, and you'll be good in a live setting!
