I never bother to leave review, but this item is great! I don't know about longevity, but straight out of the box, it works really well. It gets HOT fast. The tip literally glows red. I just disbudded 6 Boer bucklings (3 of which I should have done last week) and it 100% got the job done. Like I said, it got up to 1150° within 5 minutes, didn't have to wait to reheat between babies and it's easy to use. I personally like the pistol grip. It's much lighter weight than a rhinehart, hotter than gas dehorner and it just flat works. I do have a disbudding box which definitely makes it easier, but I have probably had 4 different brands over the years and this is my favorite - at a fraction of the price. Hope it lasts. I'm going to order a 2nd as a back up.

This arrived next day. I liked the ergonomic handle. It came with a digital temp display. When you plug it in the display on the handle lights up. It got very hot quickly and that made the function of disbudding fast with less stress to the animal. Don’t enjoy this job but the right tools is key. Would buy again. Also, this was far more affordable than the other brand-Rhinehart and the design is simply better.

Was I concerned with this inexpensive tool? Ya, I was a little apprehensive. But super satisfied at the job it done on the babies. I hadn’t disbudded for many years but after one of my boys got his horns caught in mess of random fence we have no idea where it came from. He was attacked and killed by coyotes while stuck. We have a good bit of property for the livestock to roam. It was time to start disbudding. It heated up quickly. Tested it on a piece of wood. Prepped & shaved the babies and was done in no time. No problems at all with it and will use it again.

Heats up fast and definitely gets hot enough, however the rings are too narrow to get a good and complete disbudding. The thin ring size cuts the scalp rather than burning the buds. I will replace this with a different disbudding iron as soon as I can.

Did not come with any digital temp display as advertised, but, works well for disbudding kids.

Did a great job. Easy to use.

Junk! Do NOT waste your time with this! plugged mine in, got to 500 degrees and stared smoking and shut off. Totally useless.

This worked great disbudding a Dexter calf. Not near as traumatic as you think it would be. I plan to use it on our Nigerian goats too.

I found the smaller tip was still to big for the young goats horns to de-bud them. It did heat up good and easy to handle.
