Nightmare on Elm Street Collection (1-7)(BD)

Finally these are out In 4K. I didn’t buy those blurays they put out years ago. Kept the beautiful dvd set for years. Worth the upgrade for sure. Price is pretty good as well. One minor quibble. Wanted more features that are more modern. They have all the old ones from the late 90s that were on the DVD sets and a very small amount of new ones. The old ones are fine and if you have never sleep again documentary, I think you’ll be OK, but it would’ve been cool to see some updated features.

Freddy has never looked or sounded better! Even that can't save the atrocity that is "NoES 2." The other 6 films are great fun!

I opted for the cheaper version of this set. From what I gather, the only meaningful difference between this and the much more expensive "library" style set is the packaging. And frankly, I'm more than happy to save $200+ by just opting for a normal plastic case.With so many other classic horror franchises getting upgraded to 4K (every "Chucky" movie, almost every single "Halloween", every theatrical "Hellraiser", etc. are all available in the format right now) I'm glad to see Freddy Krueger finally getting a respectable upgrade to modern home-video standards with this very solid release.If you've previously owned the Blu-Ray set, you're not getting any more bonus content compared to that release. It's basically the same special features. But there is some notable new content-- that being unrated cuts of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child", along with a 3D version of "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare" (and a pair of old-school 3D glasses). And those are definitely big perks here.But if you're buying this set, chances are you're buying for one reason... you're a Freddy fan and you want to see these films in beautiful 4K. And this set absolutely delivers in that department. We've marathoned the first four films today and plan on finishing them over the next day or two, so I will update this review once completed.And everything we've seen so far has been phenomenal. The transfers are absolutely gorgeous with a subtly boosted sharpness and improved level of fine detail over the previous Blu-Ray release. Thinks like clothing and skin-textures feel more lifelike, and you can even make out more fine detail in the Freddy makeup in closeups. I thankfully have noticed no intrusive use of filtering or DNR, nor any significant toying with the color-correction. Black levels are nice and complex, and while it's not overtly noticeable in my opinion, the HDR does a nice pop with certain colors in key sequences.Honestly, the one and only issue I've had was that the title card for "Freddy's Revenge" was maybe a hair too vibrant... the word "Nightmare" was almost hard to read. But that's a terrible minor nitpick considering its only onscreen for a matter of seconds and the rest of the film looks absolutely flawless and practically like a brand-new movie compared to the old Blu-Ray.Whether or not you should buy this set is really gonna come down to how much of a nerd you are for picture quality. If you want the best experience available watching these movies, I think this is 100% worth owning. If you just want to experience the story and characters and aren't particular, the old Blu-Ray set is probably good enough. But I do think you're missing out.This is an easy 5 out of 5 for me.

Product description doesn't tell you this even on the box but it looks like MOST legacy bonus features are intact(no Freddy's Nightmares backstory episode though like in the blu ray set as I see. But ALL of Freddy's Nightmares is on Tubi now). The actual discs are awesome but there was an ungodly amount of outgassing all over on the inside(it looks like slimy film all over everything) If you buy this do yourself a solid and CHECK YOUR SET AND CLEAN THE DISCS IF YOU NEED TO BEFORE YOU PUT THEM IN YOUR MACHINE. You don't want that crap inside your PS5 or whatever other 4k player you're using. Also apparently we don't get 3D glasses with the black case version of this set. If you didn't get the red one or don't have the 2 pair from Platinum dvd set then I hope you don't care about seeing the Freddy's Dead finale in 3D... not that big a deal really but for $100... man I paid $40 for the Platinum dvd set back in the day and that came with two pairs that were even Nightmare on Elm Street branded... boo.The package as a whole is minimalistic as hell. You're really kinda punished for not having lived on the internet and being rich so you could sneak into the 5 minute window and get the steelbook set. The discs come in one of those miserable spindle sleeve things with the tiny little teeth that hold the holders in place like you'd get if you buy the 80's Twilight Zone reboot on here or the Night Gallery set. They're... fine but they're brittle as hell. Handle with care. Hence the 3 stars for the collection. Minimum effort for maximum profit.As for the 1 star delivery. Whoever delivered my copy THREW it up on my porch so hard that I heard it hit the ground from my closed door, closed windowed house. So of course discs were loose, spindle holder thingies broken and disc 1 was scratched. Thanks Amazon. I guess this is what "prime" shipping is now? Careless. That said....If you have that kickass Platinum collection dvd box set I'd recommend swapping those discs with these except the special features disc and hide this poopy bargain bin looking box on your shelf behind your other movies and you'll have a MUCH MORE premium feeling Nightmare 4k set.

Worked well, we are upgrading horror collection to 4k as we go. Nightmare on Elm Street is a classic.

The first 7 films have been released in killer 4K quality and even uncut for the first time in the case of the 1st and 5th Nightmares with the one complaint on my brain being the inside of the disk cases being cracked upon opening for the first time (the discs are thankfully unharmed)Long review short, Freddy fans will not want to sit this 4k set out!

Sensacional! Achei a coleção fantástica e com ótimo preço. O único detalhe é que o primeiro filme, o melhor de toda a franquia, não possui legendas em português. O restante tem. Mas vale cada real. Recomendo!

They all look great in 4k. I was having an issue playing disk 5 but realized it was due to a film on the disk. After cleaning with a microfiber cloth it played fine. If you have any issues with playback try cleaning the disk before throwing your player out the window

Llegó rápido, bien cuidada...y me gusta que todas las películas traen Español Latinoaméricano, solo la 5 viene con un redoblaje, también trae unos lentes 3D. Si eres fan de Freddy está colección no puede faltar, está genial.
