Does what it needs to (I hope)
The quality is fine, and it does what it needs to, at least as far as I can tell without any real means to test that assumption. One thing to point out is that the strap is not very long. So, if like me, you intend on strapping this around your ankle, you may find that difficult. I ended up extending the length with one of those hook and loop cable management straps and that worked out fairly well.

Can't put a price on safety
I was building my own PC and the research I was doing showed that, although you don't need an anti-static band and can just ground yourself instead, it was still suggested for piece of mind. For such a cheap price, when I was already spending a lot more on the other parts, I couldn't really argue. Because these parts were so sensitive, I didn't really want to take a chance and have to possibly go through a length RMA process (that would be way too much of a hassle) so I bought this strap and it really came in handy. Not much you can say about it, it attaches well and for such a cheap price, I'm really glad I got it as I felt a lot safer during the building process. I thought it'd only have a one-time use and I'd never use it again (still okay with that for only $5) but I've it since twice more when installing my network adapter and later my GPU to make sure I don't ruin them. I'm sure I'll use it more in the future as well.

Works well and stretchy enough to move around with
This is a great little anti-static wrist strap I got this because I keep buying components that come with big warnings saying to be careful of static electricity and they make me nervous but up to this point I had never done anything special but I figure its good to be safe and it really seems to work I have fried a few components like Mosfets or small IC chips but those have been uncommon but since I've been using this the fatality rate has been zero. It also has a long enough and stretchy enough cord that I can comfortable work more than 5 or 6 feet away from where I have the end clipped which is a big bonus. The only down side I can see to it is the actual wrist strap can be a little small to get it on but once you have it cinched down to make a good contact it's a perfect size. (I do have somewhat large hands and wrists though so most people shouldn't even worry for a moment).

Functional, but a little small.
I've seen a lot of people complain that theirs doesn't work. Tested it with a multimeter, and I didn't get a dud, which is great. Unfortunately it's a bit small. The wire is a bit short, and is a spiral, so it tangles easily. The attachment that's supposed to plug into a wall outlet didn't stay in the grounding plug of any of the outlets in my apartment; not sure if my apartment just has weird things going on behind the plug or if the end on this item was poorly designed. But, it worked just as well to clip it onto the grounding prong on the power supply of my PC - it's not like it should be plugged in while I'm using this thing anyways, so the alligator clip was much appreciated. Unfortunately the strap is much smaller than I would have thought. If you have big hands (like me) you may have to pull it a little tight to get it to fit. Definitely won't work out if you want to attach it around your ankle so the chord isn't dangling around while you're trying to work. Overall, that wasn't a major annoyance for me, but for some people it could be quite a nuisance, especially if you have less room to work than I did.

This product saved my marriage..and our ipad!!
Well, maybe not really "save" it, but works great on a treadmill and the wife and I are happy! We were constantly getting nasty zapping when touching the treadmill and our ipad we use to watch Netflix as we work-out after even minor walking. To a point of not wanting to use the $1400 investment because it just plain hurt to get zapped all the time, even in summer when there is more moisture in the air. Wall socket was checked and found to have the ground intact. We don't have a rubber mat underneath it, just bare carpet that probably doesn't help things, but I read about these wristbands and decided to try it first. Wow, problem solved! The cord is long enough and the alligator clip fastens right to the treadmill chassis. Perfect! Bought another one for back-up since its quite worth it.

Convenient to use and cheap insurance when working with electronics.
The strap is easy to attach to your wrist and the detachable cable is convenient. I'd never built a computer before, besides practicing on a Compag from the late 90's (16MB RAM) and random work with MOSFETs, which I ended up breaking, but definitely not from static electricity (more like the 200A I accidentally sent straight through them). But luckily (or maybe just predictably) my computer has worked fine for the past month without any concerns. In case anyone reads this with as little computer hardware knowledge as I had, the best strategy (as in my strategy) is to just buy the most popular, best reviewed components in your price range (as long as they actually go together, so don't buy an Intel motherboard and an AMD processor). Also, buy a really big case (even if it's a 40lb gorilla). Not only is it easier to work in, but every 10°C drop in temps theoretically doubles component life. Then again, by the time my computer dies, it might be like that Compaq. So back to the actual review, the wrist strap is a cheap, convenient way to prevent stupid mistakes. Just don't wear a fluffy sweater and wool socks if you must build your computer on shag carpeting.

Best practice is to use a ground mat with a ...
Others have posted that the strap fails a continuity test. I initially had the same results, and even started the return process, but decided to experiment and found that the strap has a resistance of 1M Ohm (1002K Ohm specifically) ... Which is within the specification. So if testing the cable, do not expect to get no or low resistance. This amount of resistance is intended; if the strap had no resistance, then your body may become the prefered path to ground if not insulated from the floor. IMPORTANT: Proper Grounding while working on electronics ... Read this overview of Static buildup: [...] You can build up 20,000 volts in static within only a few minutes. Touching metal is not enough to prevent issues especially if humidity is low in the location the work is being done. Remember You can ground yourself to a chassis, but as soon as that hand is removed 2 minutes later you can (and probably do) have a charge. Today's CPUs and RAM operate at or under 3 Volts (high end RAM and CPUs run at 1.5 volts now). You will not know you built up a charge until you actually discharge with that all to familiar ZAP!, by this point, you have thousands of volts coursing through you. If you have a high enough build up you do NOT even need to touch the component, just bring your pinky close and it can be damaged. You NEED to ground yourself. The point of the wrist strap is to even out your resistance with the components you are working on. If you do not ground the chassis, then you are only extending the static that will build up in your body from walking on carpet in moving etc. into the equipment. though you may not get a ZAP, the electrical levels are still rising and can still damage the equipment. Best practice is to use a ground mat with a wrist strap for working on circuit boards. For working on a chassis, the chassis must be grounded (either by a dedicated ground conductor, or by having a power supply installed (turned off), but plugged into the wall with a third prong.), AND you must be attached to the chassis by way of a wrist strap connected to an unpainted portion of the chassis. Use an Ohm Meter between the third prong on the power supply and the wrist strap (noting that the resistance will be HIGH) to confirm you have a good ground. I suggest installing a permanent banana socket bonded to the chassis (case) to ensure a good ground connection for future maintenance.

Did the job, but not very comfortable.
This anti-static wrist strap is effective as you make it. I ordered this for my gaming PC builds, and ended up not using it for the whole second build. it's definitely effective, although limiting. Durability: it's durable enough. the wire is a bit thin, which is good and bad. it's light, and doesn't get tangled easily. the insulation on the wire is glossy and feels more like plastic than rubber. Effectiveness: The wire snaps onto the wristband with a regular snap like you might find on a jacket. this feels a bit loose, but if the cord is being stretched at all, it'll keep itself in contact. the clip end detaches, and the end is a plug like a banana plug, but less "ballooned" (not sure what kind of plug this is called) I didn't get any shocks while using it, but it also wasn't particularly static-y while I was using it, so i can't speak for how well it performed there. I imagine it would have done it's job if it had been necessary. Comfort: This is where it loses stars. the strap is pretty uncomfortable. the metal contact doesn't really make good contact with my skin unless I tension it down pretty well, which leaves the edges of the strap cutting into my wrist. the strap is held with hook-and-loop fastener, and when I say that, I mean it. this stuff is not velcro. the loops are little bundles of loops of thread (?) and feels like it might get ripped up after long use. The biggest point here, which falls under comfort and effectiveness, is the cord length. I've used a few different straps at work, and I wish I'd have just borrowed one instead of buying my own, because this little thing only stretches about two feet max, which can be a pain if there's not a decent grounding opportunity on your case. my case was all painted, and so I needed to use a (switched off) power supply, and it didn't want to stretch far enough with becoming uncomfortable. the cable unstretched is about 3/4 the length of an adult's arm. it can only stretch to about a full arms length before it starts pulling on you and making you want to take it off. for a single build in a low-medium static environment, I would feel safe with this to get the job done, but if you plan on doing more than one PC or using it on a regular basis, I would recommend something a little more comfortable and beefy.

Item arrived opened
Arrived (much) later than my other orders so I assembled the pc without using it, thus no idea if it is ok. Not sure about the connectivity from the clip to the wrist as well as I do not have a multimeter to test it. Either way, the item arrived in a sealed envelope and inside was the item itself housed in hard plastic cover and cardboard type of backing. Surprisingly, this was opened, almost 3/4 opened which didn't seem like the glue has worn off. So... this felt like a returned product by the previous person who purchased it and promptly repacked for a new order. Not sure whose fault it is, but I guess the packer / sender was betting that since I was an international customer I wouldn't be bothered to return this - which is correct, too much of a hassle to me... kudos to you...
