SKB Alto Sax Rectangular Case

Bought for teenage son. Replacement case for his alto sax, so far has proven to be a good purchase. Hopefully it makes it through marching band season without an issue

I have an old 1960s-1970s Amati alto sax that has a wide, circular piece on the neck. I had tried other cases and the neck wouldn’t fit. I have a SKB guitar case that is awesome so I thought this one would be awesome too. I was right. My alto sax fits great. It's for my 6th grade son. The latches fit nice and tight. I think my son could probably swing it around and it would stay shut.Other reviewers said that they thought the lining was thin. It's only thin in the places it has to be because of the width of the instrument. The padding is what changes not the actually fur. The fur is black inside.The case hinges make the case sit propped open a couple inches. At first I thought it was broken but what I realized was that the outward pressure ( making the case stay open) actually makes the latches that much more secure.I'm very happy with the purchase. I think it's survived a couple months on the bus with a 6 grader, how much more can I ask for?Update: 3/8/2018This case is still in great shape. No problems with latches. Inside is still very nice. My son is now in high school, and now using his saxophone daily. This case has been well worth the money.

We purchased this as a replacement for a thirty-year old Yamaha YAS-21 student model alto sax. We are quite pleased with the purchase. Many aftermarket cases are a gamble on size, especially with the bell size, but this fit perfectly in every way. A helpful hint is to recognize that the first time one places the sax in the case, it may close a little tight. The protective foam and soft covering needs a bit of time to mold to the bell. We placed the sax in the case and let it sit for two weeks before use. The case molded well and now opens and closes like it was made for the sax. If it closes too tightly, then the bell may be too large. The plastic is durable enough and the latches are easy to open. There is a lot of space for extras, such as mouthpiece, ligature, reeds, and neck strap. The weight isn't an issue and is as expected for a hard plastic case. It did not come with a shoulder strap but has rings to add one if needed. Would highly recommend a look for those seeking a good replacement case for an alto sax.

We must of read dozens of reviews on various alto sax cases. After much thought, we picked this case for our sophomore in high school. The verdict: the "extra storage compartment" is a tad small for things like reeds, a strap, the mouthpiece, etc. Our kid wears a full chest harness, and storage is lacking in this SKB Case (compared to the school's alto sax cases and the original case, our saxophone was sold in). We are in the "thinking about returning this case" mode. Sigh.Update: We've kept the case, but our kiddo stores a minimal amount of stuff for sax in the "extra storage compartment".

When I first began learning alto sax, I purchased a used instrument (a Buffet Crampon from Taiwan) that came with a pathetic case. After much frustration, I purchased this replacement. I was VERY IMPRESSED!PROS:Hard outer layer to protect instrument.Soft plush interiorSturdy handle and overall designEmpty spot to store reeds, mouthpiece, etc.Place designated for storing crook (neck).CONS:As with any replacement case, there is always a chance that your instrument might not fit properly. Mine happens to be awkwardly shaped, so it is somewhat of a tight fit.IMPORTANT:Contact the seller before buying to make sure which case you are ordering. Pictured are two different cases, one soft and one hard. The one we ordered from guaranteed us the hard case, which is much better unless you happen to want your instrument to be damaged.SUMMARY:Definitely a five star case. Best one for the price.

I love this case. I purchased this case for my Stephan Houser alto saxophone. The sax fits into the case perfectly along with how nicely the neck fit into its slot. I really wish this case had a spot for the mouthpiece to be cradled, instead of having the mouthpiece in the compartment. This sax case is remarkably durable considering how light it is. Other saxophone cases I have had have often cracked at the corners from a minimal impact. This one, however, does not. I would strongly recommend this case to any saxophone player who is looking for a durable and affordable case.

Bought this for my 10 yr old son. He started playing saxophone this year and is using a borrowed instrument from a friend. The case we were given was very beat up so I invested in this one. I wasn't expecting to spend $100 just on a case, considering I couldn't afford the instrument in the first place. But it looks very nice and everything fits well in it, all the pieces and rooms for reeds, etc. Although we haven't had it very long, it is holding up nicely and is not too heavy. My son can carry it on his own. I almost bought a cheaper, soft case, but glad I spent a little more for this one. Well worth it, as long as it holds up long term.

Wow this case is amazing. We had a Vintage, Vita sax refurbished and wanted a solid case to protect it from anything my middle schooler could do to it. The sax fit pefect like it was made for it. It looks really nice too. The small compartment inside holds his small accessories just fine. It's strong and solid and is snug on the sax. It's just a perfect fit. I'd recommend this case any day!

Great delivery. Good case for the money. I have a very old Rampone and Cazzani stencil. It fits perfectly.
