An absolutely essential accessory for viewing the moon - even for beginners. I had been a (very) casual stargazer for years and never used any filter, but I decided to give this a shot when I upgraded telescopes recently. I had assumed it would just make the image fuzzier - but I was very wrong. Image clarity remains excellent, but it saves your eyes from the glare and allows you to observe far more detail. Really great product. I switched eyepieces and tried to observe the moon without the filter, but I couldn’t do it. It was far too bright for comfortable viewing. Great quality - it threaded into my eyepieces smoothly and with no problem. Feels well-made. Delivered quickly too. If you’re wondering whether or not you really need this product — you do. Might even be worth getting a couple of these to avoid the minor hassle of switching between commonly used eyepieces.

This does what it's supposed to: reduce the amount of light you get from observing the moon, and let me tell you it does work great. Not only makes it easier for the eye to observe the moon when most of its surface is illuminated, but also keeps the natural color of the image so the moon will remain white but just less bright. It also fits my eyepices perfectly. I would totally recommend this to anyone who wants observe the moon with a telescope, it's just more enjoyable for the eye than doing it without the filter.

They scratch the case, and it’s pretty dim. YOU DO NOT SEE MORE DETAIL WITH THIS LENS ITS ALL JUST A CASH GRAB!! Do NOT purchase unless you can’t handle the moons brightness, I would say if your eyes can’t handle the brightness of the moon then you shouldn’t be using telescopes. Let your eyes adjust to the night, and I mean IN THE DARK WITHOUT LOOKING AT A PHONE for 30 minutes along with your telescope to adapt to the temps Your telescope manual even tells you to let it sit outside for 30 minutes before looking through it.

I'm an old school visual telescope user. I don't take fancy CCD images, I just like to point the scope at my favorites and let the photons actually hit my eyes. Sorta left the hobby for a while but recently dusted off my old 90mm refractor. Lost my lunar filter so I bought this one. The evening it arrived we had a prefect waxing gibbous. Thrilling results! Tamps down the light just enough while not affecting the colors. I also own some Orion 10x50 binoculars. They make good stuff.

When something is really bright it's hard to see details. Your eyes won't stand the light and you'll just see blurs. This filter is really great to assist you to see more details on the Moon. It'll block some of the light and make it easier for you to see the shadows and craters in the surface of the Moon. It won't make much of a difference to observe stars, as they are light sources, you'll just see them less brighter. It also may not be appropriate to observe less brighter objects like Jupiter. But it was designed to filter the moonlight, so it is just perfect for it's purposes.

I'm new to astrometry and beside my scope, this is the first accessory purchase and I'm very pleased with it. It seems like a simple thing but just as sunglasses can bring out more details when viewing things, this filter lets me seen the moon much more clearly by blocking some of the glare. It sharpens the details, giving just the right amount of contrast so I can see the mountains and valleys much better now. Definitely worth the price for the improvement in viewing.

I was shocked when I used this product for the first time. I've never used a telescope to gaze at the moon before, and was surprised at what a difference this filter would make. Looking at the moon, especially when full or near-full, without this filter is just too bright and you can't see much. With this filter, however, the experience is much more comfortable to the eye. It fits my telescope perfectly and I've had no problems using it.
