Let me preface this by saying I have a little papillon who loves to pee everywhere; he's lucky he is so gosh darn cute. Pro(s) • The solution did a great job of making my carpets feel the most clean out of the many carpet cleaning solutions that I've tried (and I've tried many); this is a HUGE pro. • The enzymes were alive and kicking - the biggest response I've seen to trouble areas (I was impressed). _____ Con(s) • Expensive considering how much I used to achieve results (half of the bottle for one run on my master bedroom). • Did not get the pee stain out of the carpet as much as their competitor's cleaner I usually use (you can still faintly see it). Normally, I can't see the pee once I've cleaned it, but despite feeling cleaner, I can still see it. • The scent smells nothing like an ocean breeze as stated on the bottle. It's a weird smell that I can't put my finger on, which barely covers a faint pee smell. Ultimately, once my carpet dried, I sprinkled pet odor elimination powder and vacuumed, so I guess I can live with the fact there is barely any scent. __ The Takeaway The fact that this stuff makes the carpet feel cleaner almost makes up for a so-so performance on leaving faintly visible pee stains (you can always use another cleaner to spot-clean it and get rid of it as I decided to do); it left my carpets feeling like the day I moved into our house, which is huge! Same thing with the off-putting scent - just follow up with a carpet deodorizing powder once it dries, and it's no longer a real deal breaker.

I’m reviewing this as it pertains to dog urine in carpet. First, if the urine has seeped through the carpet and into the padding and/or osb (subfloor), there’s nothing you can do to clean it up without tearing out carpet and flooring. You could make a solution of this and absolutely soak it in…and the enzymes would break down the urine, but you’ll never be able to get all of it without tearing things up. Having said that, for relatively new and not-so-deep stains, this stuff works quite well. The urine smell comes from the breakdown of ammonia, and in turn, that dried urine becomes urea. Do NOT use clean these urine spots with warm or hot water. That will reactivate the bacteria inside the urine stain and they’ll go into overdrive converting the urine even faster into urea and ammonia (the pee smell). It’s why so many people say things like “made my pee smell worse”…because they used warm water. After you’ve cleaned, and it’s dried l, makes absolutely certain to vacuum well. The dried remnants are salts of the urine and you’ll want to get those up because they break down…giving you the pee smell.
