Is this specifically made for the 18 inch weber? Or will it work on 22inch weber kettle?

Yes, it is designed to contour the 18" kettle or Jumbo Joe. It can work in a 22" grill, you'll get fantastic two-zone grilling and low 'n slow smoking. The smaller size just means less charcoal capacity, but results will be similar.

Does it hold water? Doesn’t look very leak friendly

Slow N Sesr Plus is the only one that holds water. Fill 3:4 of hit water in a Webber 11 inch drip pan and set it over the fire and check water ever 2HRS. Tip close your bottom vent and only use the top vent to control heat in conjunction with a duel thermostat. Seems to work best for me.

What’s bottom diameter—does it reduce below 15 3/4”? I have a Weber compact kettle. There is enough height below the grate but not sure if it contours

I have a Weber Jumbo Joe 18 inch kettle this is made for it perfectly and yes if you have an 18 in kettle it will fit. I say again it is made for 18 inch kettle any smaller i do not know.
