A fantastic bit of kit, that is 💯% recommended & it does work with the Gen 2!
When I received my Ring Doorbell (Gen 2) as a present, I knew I wanted it hardwired as my memory isn't great and I would forget to charge the internal battery, although they are meant to last for a good number of months - depending on your settings. Also, I did not want to keep removing the security screws and risk loosing them!! Finding the plug in adapter was more challenging that I thought it would be, mainly because I didn't have a clue what it was called. After finding many alternative suppliers who stated their product can be used with the Ring, I wanted the OE item, and after more searching I was able to locate and purchase it!! I would say, it would be great to have options for the cable length, but as long as you think of your cable route prior to any action, then you'll need good. Overall I found installation was a lot easy than I had thought initially - I think I spent longer thinking and planning the cable routing haha. Connecting the wire to the Ring terminal screws located at the back is so easy, taking no time at all. After I had it all connected and just requiring mounting and the security screws, I accessed the doorbell via the app to check it was working and showing hardwired - which it did!! Overall the complete installation took no more than 45 minutes. I would recommend this to anyone, so you don't need to charge or replace batteries. I now have my Ring doorbell (Gen 2) set to the highest/best settings that would normally drain your battery, but now I see a better picture quality on both day and night and I have no issues with the motion detection, it only picks up on the area I set and nothing else. A little bit of kit, that is definitely worth the money!

Highly recommended
Brilliant keeps my ring doorbell working at all times. Brought a cheap one first and it buzzes. So changed to this and no noises coming from it ;) which is great and keeps the doorbell fully working so I’m very hapoy

Excellent within limits
You need to understand that this is a battery charger rather than a mains power supply. You’ll still drain the battery if you ramp up the features on the Ring doorbell itself if you have a lot of traffic. After trying many scenarios, the biggest one to avoid is having HD recording set. Mine dropped from 100% to 87% after a few visits and could not recharge back to 100% until I shut HD off again. The motion sensor set to Frequent and Snapshot set to every 5 minutes don’t cause an issue. Easy install although not impressed with the cable clips supplied, I used my own. Charger stays cool enough and is silent. Price is so competitive that I can’t see why you’d buy a dodgy no-name cheapo charger instead.

It Works!
I had owned a battery operated Ring 1st Generation doorbell for over two years and as we are on a busy street have been charging it literally every 5 days even after altering settings.. Recently there had been an issue with recordings only capturing 10 seconds of footage no matter what video length settings I adjusted.. Checked internet and there are many reports of similar problems of the 10 second recordings...Contacted Ring support and long story short they could not fix the problem after hours on the phone.. Received a Ring 2 (2020 version) in the last week and set it up and I must say it is has a far superior image quality of 1080p HD and thankfully the recording length settings all work fine on this device... I had previously purchased a non branded transformer on a certain web site to try and hardwire my Ring 1 doorbell but that did not work from the moment I installed it. Thought I would try this original Ring hardwire transformer and received it 48 hours ago and after fully charging the Ring 2 doorbell connected it in seconds and it immediately recognised it as being "hardwired" on the Ring app. There has been dozens of motion recordings over the last 48 hours and I am absolutely amazed that on just checking the battery indicator it is still showing 100% !!!... If this transformer maintains this or even if it would stay at 80% and save me having to dismantle and recharge the doorbell every few days would be amazing.. Time will tell and I will update this review in time and see how things are then, but this is one of the best purchases I have made in a long time, what a time saver this could turn out to be....... ***UPDATE*** After 3 days of use/hardwiring the battery charge indicator on the Ring 2 2020 doorbell has now disappointingly dropped to 73%. I have now disconnected the doorbell, brought it indoors and still have it hardwired with the device face down on a table so no motion whatsoever will be detected and have "disarmed" the setting in the app, I will leave it hardwired for 24 hours and see if the percentage increases to show it is actually receiving a trickle charge. I feel disappointed after the initial expectations and if still showing at 73% charge in 24 hours time it is obviously not charging the doorbell despite the Ring app showing it is "hardwired" with lightning bolt through the green charge indicator and a white circular constant light at the front of the Ring doorbell. I will be returning this Ring transformer if not providing a charge.. Will update in 24 hours... ******OK, so 16 hours later have checked the app device health and am pleased to say it is still showing as hardwired and is now showing a 100% charge so I am happy that this transformer is trickle charging the battery so will replace the doorbell in the knowledge that it will charge it back to 100%... may need to tweek motion settings as we face a busy street and hence why the battery may have dropped so much in a few days.. Yes... would recommend this transformer, it does work!!!!!... Update 27.11.21..having used this transformer everyday for the last two months with one minute recordings of probably 100 recordings per day I have never had to recharge the doorbell via the indoor charger.. the hardwired device readings are always between 80 and 85 per cent each day so extremely happy with that considering the amount of daytime recordings our busy street captures..trickle charge overnight during quiet period seems to restore to a good percentage....a good purchase..

A Simple Fix That Keeps My Ring Doorbell Powered 24/7
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Makes Life So Much Easier for Ring Doorbells I bought the Ring Plug-In Adaptor (2nd Gen) because I was tired of constantly recharging my doorbell battery, and it’s been a brilliant upgrade. Installation was straightforward—just connect the wires to the doorbell and plug it in. No electrical work, no fuss. Once set up, the doorbell stays powered continuously, and I haven’t had to touch the battery since. The connection has been stable, and the doorbell responds faster than it did when running on battery alone. The cable length is generous enough to route neatly around the doorway, and the adaptor itself feels well-built and safe. It also runs quietly with no buzzing or warmth, which was something I checked for. If you’re using a Ring doorbell and want a simple, reliable way to keep it powered without dealing with battery swaps, this adaptor is definitely worth it.
