Works well with Baofeng GRMS radios
This antenna has a very good reception and the magnet attaches it to the car is very strong. The antenna attaches easily to my Baofeng GRMS radio. I highly recommend this antenna.

UPDATE: SWR 1.01 - Was: High SWR than expected, Now: Great SWR
I have seen reviews online that states that this antenna has an SWR of 1.0 or very close to it. The best I got was 1.2, and the worst was 2.5, completely dependent on which channel and the transmit power on GMRS. I have tested on 3 SWR meters and all of them had similar results. Somewhat unusable for all GMRS channels. I am thinking about returning the product because I have seen better SWR out of other UT-72G. I may have received a defective one. UPDATE: I got a replacement, and decided to test the SWR on the new antenna. I got an SWR of 1.01. Here is what I noticed. The first one I got had a sticker that said UT-72G over a bag that was for UT-72. Not a big deal, so I tested that first one again but for HAM bands as opposed to GMRS bands. Lo and behold, the HAM band SWR was closer to and SWR of <= 1.5, in some lower bands I got closer to 1.4. But for GMRS bands, the lower band I got an SWR of 1.2-1.5, the higher I went on the 462-468MHz range, the higher the SWR (as high as 2.5). The new one, didn't test well for HAM bands, as expected, but had amazing results across the entire range of 462-468MHz. I tested the new antenna which was in a bag that states it is UT-72G (no sticker on top of the UT-72 bag) with a few SWR meters and testing equipment, and I got an SWR between 1.01-1.03 across the entire GMRS band. More than likely a factory mix up as opposed to a bad antenna. If your SWR is high, there are many obvious radio and antenna specific things to check (something as simple as a good ground plane, no nearby obstructions that can cause incorrect results, etc.) but also check to see if you got the wrong antenna. I am quite happy with the SWR result of the second antenna. The signal readability and minimal hash noise at distance means the radio is putting out solid power through an antenna that converts most of that power with minimal loss. Time to return the first antenna and use the new antenna on GMRS. I hope this helps.

Excellent antenna.
Worked great out of the box. Using an Anytone 779UV, I got 1.01 SWR on GMRS 1 - 22(slightly higher on FRS channels) , and nothing higher than 1.89 on 2M and 70cm. Good enough for me. Might buy another one.

Works like a charm
Used during our long east coast convoy on a Honda Pilot. The only main issue, a minor one, was with the cable length. Granted the Pilot is on the longer side of the midsize SUVs, the cable barely reached the Pilotโs hatch. Was able to mount the antenna successfully just in front of the Sirius fin antenna. The cable reached the center console where I was able to attach it to my Baofeng UV-5G Mini GMRS radio. I had to use an external speaker mic for easier communication. While I donโt have the SWR reading for this antenna, I can tell you that it has increased our range by another few miles. We were separated from our convoy by more than 5 miles because we got stuck in a standstill traffic while the rest made it out sooner. I told them weโd just catch up at the next rest stop. When we finally started moving, we saw our convoy about 5 miles ahead of us. I was about to call them on my phone but gave the radios a try first. I was surprised to hear back from them about 5 miles ahead with cars, trees, and other obstacles between us. The audio had some static but still load and clear. When my cheap Baofeng speaker mic failed, I had to use the stock stubby antenna so I could get the radioโs mic over my mouth as the UT-72Gโs cable wouldnโt allow it. Thatโs when we realized how much range the UT-72G antenna added. Without it I was able to reach the other vehicles around 3 miles before the audio became too staticky to understand anything. The Pilot acting as a faraday cage cripples the radioโs transmission. We never got to test the full range with the mag mount antenna because we were never separated farther than 5 miles again. But Iโm confident that it could reach much farther as the audio was still loud and clear. I still use the antenna driving around town nowadays. My tiny UV-5G Mini radio with the antenna can hit 2 local repeaters reliably. One repeater is 8.5 miles away while the other is 18 miles away. Feels kinda nostalgic reminding me of the good old days when we used our Cobra CB radios and our giant K-40 antennas. Canโt believe a tiny radio with a decent antenna can give us the same fun we had back then. Canโt wait for the next long convoy trip. Oh, the antenna is well worth the price I paid here on Amazon. It was cheaper than prices I found elsewhere. To be honest, the antenna looks badass on top of our Pilot and Renegade.

Review on the Nagoya Ut-72 GMRS antenna.
Great Performance, Solid Build โ Just a Few Minor Issues Iโve been using the Nagoya UV-72 for a little bit now, and overall, Iโm pretty happy with its performance. The build quality feels solid, and the antenna does a great job improving my signal reception and transmission range. Iโve noticed a significant improvement in clarity compared to my stock antenna, especially in rural and fringe areas. The magnet mount is strong and holds up well, even at highway speeds. Installation was easy, and the coax cable is good quality. However, the only reason Iโm giving four stars instead of five is that the base could be a bit strongerโit does tend to shift slightly if bumped. Additionally, while reception is great, performance can vary depending on the terrain. Overall, itโs a great antenna for the price and a worthwhile upgrade for anyone looking to boost their radioโs capabilities. Iโd definitely recommend it, just keep in mind the minor drawbacks!

Good Performance, Build Quality and Value
This is a straight forward GMRS Mobile Antenna that happens to be a good performer. Take it out of the package, place it in a good spot on your vehicle away from obstructions and it will give you good performance. The antenna is extremely well built and durable, because itโs made from very high quality materials (Stainless Steel). The magnet is very powerful, and the antenna stays in place even at high speeds, and in extreme weather. Its price also makes it an incredibly value. This antenna does not performs on par with my Midland MXTA26, but it is half the price, and unlike the Midland it comes with a very good magnetic mount and good quality RG58u coaxial cable. Right out of the package, my SWR is 1.01 to 1.03 across the GMRS frequency range.

UT-72G antenna
Itโs a real UT-72G. Performance is up to par on whatโs been said about it. I have no Buyers Remorse at all. Iโm getting 1.4 -1.7 VSWR across the non repeater GMRS frequencies with mine, 1.3 -1.5 VSWR across the +5MHz repeater frequencies. Not Radio Perfect, but none are, and itโs perfectly safe to run this antenna without performance worry. Itโs priced right too. I now own two of these antennaโs, and have no regrets + the Ham Dual Band model also performs just as well.

Not good for 5 watt handheld.
Ok this is a solid antenna for the price. Definitely improves my rx capabilities. However, my tx is described as very low and behind a wall of static. I can't hit the repeater that I can hit with the 771 whip on the radio. I think it's a wattage issue and not the antenna. But it came with an adapter for handheld and that was the use I was planning on. But it doesn't work for that.

Very Good Results!
Second one I have bought. SWR 1.0 Incredible SWR on the first one as well. I don't know how they do it, right out of the package with no tuning required.

Good antenna!
I had a cheap bingfu antenna, and it worked fine but the magnet sucked. This antenna has a nice solid magnet, no fear of it coming off on the highway, and the cable is much thicker and nicer then the cheaper antennas come with. Only recommendation I have is to put a piece of vinyl tape down where ever you are going to mount this as any magnet mount antenna will damage paint eventually.

It actually works, period.
Instead of wasting your money and time, do it right, do it once. If you want a magnet mount, this is a great buy. No issues will seller, would buy again.
