The Saga of the Mickey Mouse Sandwich Maker
I just received the two Mickey Mouse Sandwich Makers that I ordered yesterday and I am so excited. Many years ago, January 2010, my husband and I went to Disney World and we were there for my birthday. When we came home, we saw that my mom had left a gift in our kitchen while housesitting. It was a pair of Mickey Mouse coffee mugs and the Mickey Mouse Sandwich Maker. At first, I was skeptical. I make perfectly good grilled cheeses in a pan on the stove. Also, Disney World is my favorite theme park but I'm really not a Disney Nerd. I just really like the rides. Frankly, I dislike Mickey Mouse and his creepy voice. I decided to give it a try before undoubtedly losing it to the depths of our kitchen cabinets with the juicer, blender, and various choppers. This was when I found out that the Mickey Mouse Sandwich Maker makes the absolute best grilled cheeses ever. I don't understand it but I'm not going to question the absolute perfection every time. I didn't have to worry about it being lost in the cabinets because it was never put away, an honor only shared with the coffeepot. We made grilled cheese and tuna melts and then we started adding deli meat. Eventually, I added a fried egg. I started trying sweet combinations (Nutella, banana, and thinly sliced sharp cheddar is incredible) but my husband stuck to savory. We used store bread and homemade bread. We tried different types of bread (the Lockdown jalapeno cheddar sourdough was the best). With the two of us always working different shifts and unexpectedly being called in to work, the Mickey Mouse Sandwich Maker was often the only reason we had decent meals and we were only limited on our imaginations because the lid didn't even have to fully close for it to work. When we moved states, the Mickey Mouse Sandwich Maker never even got packed. It went in my car the day we signed the papers, along with the coffee making and house cleaning supplies. In January 2021, we went to Disney World again and our nephew watched our house and dogs. We left him food we knew he liked. My husband also grilled him some cheeseburgers that he could easily reheat. When we got home, we found out that our nephew thought of the one thing we somehow never considered; Grilled Cheeseburgers. The boy's a genius. We, clearly, are not. Eventually I started to notice that it was looking a bit worn down and the hinge was getting loose. I began to genuinely worry that it was going to die. I mentioned this to my mom when telling her about the best gift she ever gave me and she just casually mentioned that she originally bought two (of course she did) but that she never used hers. This is how I ended up with a second, equally as old but in perfect condition Mickey Mouse Sandwich Maker. After a while, the paranoia of not having my beloved machine started to ease off and I did something previously unthinkable. I brought it to work and we had a Grilled Sandwich Party. It was so popular that I decided to leave it at work. People used it on their lunch breaks. Bob from Security made sure it was kept clean, probably cleaner than it had been kept at home to be honest. We started keeping butter in the fridge and when I was running late, I'd just grab the bread and cheese and run out of the house. The others brought stuff too. We kept it in the "Night Shift Drawer" in the fridge. No one was going hungry on our shift. Occasionally a hangry nurse or doctor would find a sandwich plopped in front of them without warning. When I left that job, I didn't bring it with me. Like Bob from Respiratory's George Foreman Grill, it became part of the Emergency Department and was no longer my property. Then, I did something unbelievably stupid. When we moved states again, we both assumed we'd be living with my in-laws only temporarily so we packed away our replacement. Months turned into years as The Fates threw all their dirty tricks our way. Occasionally we would reminisce about our favorite grilled cheese concoctions. Then something awful would happen and we'd forget again. Then something crazy happened. The Nephew, the one born just after my husband and I started dating, he of the Grilled Cheeseburgers, bought a house. Seriously. He's 26 years old. I wish I was half as responsible as he is and I'm almost twice his age. Anyway, as soon as I found out he had signed the papers, my first thought was that he needed his own Mickey Mouse Sandwich Maker. I mentioned it to my mother-in-law, who mentioned it to him and his response clearly indicated that he too fondly remembers Grilled Cheeseburgers. So I went online to buy one for him but I started to ponder, why haven't we just bought another one for ourselves? It's not as if we have qualms about spare appliances, assuming we ever get our stuff out of storage (always have a spare coffeepot). So, I bought two and they just arrived. It's my husband's day off and I think I know what we're having for our "midnight snack" aka, lunch.

Best grilled cheese maker for kids
I have owned one for 12 years now and its still going strong. I bought a new one for backup just incase they don't make it anymore. The size is perfect, it cooks great everytime and its easy to clean if done at right timing.

La sandwichera funciona perfectamente. Consejo: para que te salga la carita no aplanes el pan y embarrale poquita mayonesa en la parte que quieres que vaya la cara.
