How does a router attach?

You need to make a 3/8" thick base for your router and that will fit in the slots of the rails.

so the sled does not have bearing tubes like Vevor makes, just allows the plate you make to slide on the surface of the rails?

I just got this unit and the "rails" do not have berrings. They only allow the router to slide. Glide coat works great for this. Or just paste wax

how do you make a custom 3/8 base plate?

I made mine from 1/2" MDF then cut down two edges to 3/8".

I have a bosch 1617evs router with both plunge and fixed base.. what am i missing because i am not able to get the bit to lower to my material?

I had the same problem. You need to raise the material you are trying to cut. It never worked for me, I am returning it!
