It just works and works well!
I spent an embarrassingly long time reviewing speakerphones. I looked at the Yamaha YVC-200 (a little dated and much older Bluetooth spec), the Jabra Speak 710 and 750 (older Bluetooth specs and expensive), Initially I ordered the EPOS 30 plus. The EPOS wasn't too bad and it came with a dongle for the price. It had an excellent speaker for music and other sound, and it could get really loud without distorting. However, I had several weird connectivity issues on my work computer (enterprise computers). In addition, folks said I sounded ok, nothing great. As far as the EPOS 30 Plus speaker capabilities, that was nice but, in the end, I wasn't looking for a Bluetooth speaker or a computer speaker. Instead, I realized I needed to be laser-beam focused on the purpose I actually needed a speakerphone: For good mics so I could be heard clearly on the other end of a Zoom call. Enter the Beyerdynamic Space. This thing is brand new on the market, equipped with newer Bluetooth specs (I believe 5.1 or something). I didn't love that I would be losing the dongle option, but once I got the Beyerdynamic Space I really did not care about the dongle at all. It just worked flawlessly, connecting seemlessly to my phone and working without any issues when connected to my work computer with the provided wire (which is not weirdly attached to the device as with the EPOS 30 and Jabras -- that's a bit strange to me). In short, I am VERY happy with my purchase as I feel that my colleagues now hear me well (and say so) and I don't have any weird glitches that probably flow from the fact the Beyerdynamic Space is new, with updated specs. It looks and feels high quality and modern and looks great in any workspace (I get really positive comments after only a few weeks of having it). In addition, it includes very intuitive "capacitance" buttons. I highly recommend you pick one up if you are looking for a quality personal speakerphone. BTW, it's really portable and the bag that comes with it is surprisingly durable and closes nicely with a unique closing mechanism you don't normally see but it works well. Please know that I am just a regular customer (that pretty much tortures himself by reading any and all reviews available before making a purchase). Happy speakerphone hunting! I am updating my review (one year later). While I have enjoyed it and continue to stand by my original review, I do want to add that today (sadly) it fell off my desk and the usb-c port no longer works… Super sad. I can still use it until the battery dies but, after that, it will be inoperable as I won’t be able to charge it using the one charging port. I should also add, that although the sound is excellent, it doesn’t get very loud (which sometimes caused issues).

Excellent personal speakerphone
I have a home office and wanted a speakerphone. Using my iPhone as a speakerphone has its limits. I've been unhappy with my results of trying to use Bluetooth speakers (Bose Revolve + and Apple Homepod minis) as speakerphones, even though they have that capability. None worked seamlessly, unlike the Beyerdynamic SPACE, which is a dedicated device. I read many reviews and went with the Beyerdynamic SPACE on the strength of the reviews. Beyerdynamic advertised this as a "personal" device, which was another reason I got it. It's for my use. Most reviewers gave it high marks as a speakerphone, and they were right. The caller's voice is so loud and crisp that it feels like we are in the same room. I also wanted to lean back in my chair and not sound like I was on speakerphone to the caller. I tested this out with a friend, and she could not tell the difference. I've used it a solid week, and the Bluetooth connection has never dropped. It's easy to set up. I didn't buy this for music playing, but it doesn't seem very loud for it. My iPhone 12 shows it is connected to headphones when playing music, which seems odd. I turned off the headphone safety limiter in the iPhone, which boosted the music volume a bit. However, the music's sound quality is excellent, clear, and crisp. It seems like it's an ideal device to take on trips. It looks very well built, comes with a protective pouch, and easily fits in a backpack. In sum, I am happy with this purchase. It does what I wanted it to do: significantly raise the quality of the speakerphone experience and maintain persistent connections. I can answer a call by touching the speakerphone's phone handle. All the controls you need are on the speakerphone. The LED lighting system tells you exactly what the status of the system is. Battery life is really long. I charge it using a USB connection to my iMac. It works while charging.

Great as speakerphone; bad for music
After working from home for two years, I was getting tired of using a Jabra headset, which, admittedly, had great sound quality and noise reduction. Looking into speakerphones, a few units seemed good but were either missing USB-C (Yamaha), seemed overpriced or way too treble-y (Jabra) or had dubious sound/microphone quality (other brands). At Amazon's price, the Beyerdynamic space appeared to be reasonably priced compared to the competition and offered excellent battery life and USB-C connectivity. After a few weeks of use (I do not use bluetooth, but connect via USB-C instead), these are my findings: - Sound quality for calls is great; people's voiced can be heard clearly with sufficient mid-range and bass to make them sound natural. - Microphone quality appears to be good. While not as good as a headset with noise cancelling mic, I have had no complaints from people on the other side of the line. I can be heard clearly, even when several feet away from the Space. - Echo/noise: I have not received any complaints about echo or background noise and people indicated they could hear me clearly without too much going on in the background. The algorithm/mics seem to be doing their job well. - Music quality: mediocre. It works better than laptop speakers, but that's about as good as it gets. Sound is mono, the bass is extremely overpowered. In theory you can pair two via bluetooth and create stereo surround, but at the price of two of these you can get high-quality PC studio monitors/speakers -- so I cannot think of any reason why'd you'd buy two of these over proper speakers. Do not buy this solely for the purpose of listening to music. - Buttons: I would have preferred actual buttons with feedback rather than a circle with tiny, mono-colored icons, but generally I haven't had any issues with the device or responsiveness of the touch buttons. Conclusion: works quite well as a speakerphone for hands-free and headset-free calls and is passable for listening to the occasional video/etc. In music mode, the bass is extremely overbearing and since the speaker is mono it simply doesn't sound good. The battery life is pretty extreme at 20 hours so it will be a good buy for those who are on the road a lot, too. Ultimately, I think it is overpriced -- but speakerphones in general seem to be rather expensive and apparently this Beyerdymic Space is pretty reasonably priced compared to the competition.

Mics don’t work in tandem
If you are trying to use these in tandem know that only the speakers work in tandem, the microphones do not work in tandem. Main reason I bought these was to work together & that did not work. These are ok as individual devices but when connected together other brands are much more superior. Had to replace these with poly sync 40s.

I was skeptical, but now I’m a big fan.
I’m a big Beyerdynamic fan, so when I saw this speakerphone I was already predisposed to dig it. After due diligence, I took the plunge (the price being the biggest hesitation). I will try to briefly answer the questions that I had before purchase. 1). It is much better than just using your iPhone speakerphone. Sounds better, you sound better. 2) Battery life is astounding… hours and hours. 3). It’s big-ish… but definitely packable. 4). You can play music through it.. but don’t.. I mean not as a primary function. It’s designed to be a speakerphone. Non-spoken audio is bonus. 5) It connects very easily and reliably to multiple devices - and verbally tells you that it has. No fuddling with Bluetooth settings once paired. Paired very easily as well. 6). Works with Teams… your mileage may vary.. but for my corpSitch it works. I don’t use it for every call.. I use it for long, tedious calls… and it’s a fantastic companion. No one has EVER asked if ‘I’m on a speakerphone’, ‘where are you?’, ‘Having trouble hearing you etc”. It’s a well designed product that, when used as intended, is a rockstar.

Defective Device
I received the device and it would not power on. After plugging in, the device would still not power on but the LED charging light would flash. However, there is no table that defines the LED light flash patterns on the device so I could not troubleshoot. I left the device plugged in for a few hours and it did not change state. End of the day I had to return my device.

Best sounding speaker among those tested
After trying other models, this one is as good for microphone sound quality and better for speaker sound quality based on my observations and testing with Zoom and other web meeting platforms which is the primary use of this speaker for my work. On Zoom calls, people say the sound quality is good but not as good as a headset with noise cancelling. On my side, listening to speakers on a Zoom call, the sound quality is good and not tinny. The issue with other speakers that cost half as much is the speakers were too tinny and I did not enjoy listening to other people speak through those speakers. This is very important if you are on a lot of calls and that is why I chose to pay almost double for this speaker. Is there a way to improve the sound quality for the mics? I think there is a degree to which room design is the only way to get the best sound quality and there is a limit to what algorithms can do. With that in mind, I recommend this speakerphone.

A great alternative to wearing a headset! Love it! Best if used in a private office.

Klare Kaufempfehlung!
