Why can't you offer any other sugared items while giving this product to your ants? I try to keep a varied diet and like to offer fruits and honey.

Thank you for your question about Sunburst Ant Nectar, a high-receptivity ant food formulation. Sunburst Ant Nectar is an aqueous solution primarily consisting of sucrose (a type of sugar) and water.Fruits and honey contain primarily fructose-another type of sugar-which scientists have found to be less preferable to ants, compared to sucrose. While the user may continue to feed other forms of sugar, such as those found in fruits and honey, doing so is biologically unnecessary, since all sugars will produce the same nutritive effect.Beyond being unnecessary, feeding other forms of sugar may also produce the unintended effect of making a captive ant colony less responsive to the Sunburst Ant Nectar, possibly leading to waste. If ants are overfed with sugar on a constant and regular basis, they will become and stay "full," and will start to respond less and less to being offered any type of sugar. That is why the instructions also stipulate that Sunburst should be fed every few days, as much as the ants can consume within a short period of time, preferably a few hours.Following our instructions will ensure the ants are able to process as much of the food as possible, and will have a consistent and predictable appetite each time the food is offered, resulting in less waste.

Is this the new 2020/2021 formula?

We are in the process of rolling out the slightly updated formula. Most Sunburst shipped from Amazon will be the latest formula version. Customers may send us a message after placing an order to confirm the Best By date or other product details before the items ship.

Both of my bottles so far have developed mold in about 2 months. Would it help to keep in the fridge? I am not touching the tip or anything.

Special storage or handling is not required for this product. If you experience a change in appearance or quality less than 6 months after opening, simply contact byFormica Ant Products by emailing support@byformica.com and we will replace the product at no charge. Please keep your defective product and provide the expiration date in your message. The date is printed on the bottom left corner of the product label. We may request the defective product be return to us at our expense for analysis and quality control purposes.

Hello I got this item but it was really hot outside like 95F and it might have been in mailbox a day and a half, can you tell me if it's still safe?

Hot or cold temperatures will not substantially affect the quality of this product while it is unopened. After opening, the product does not require refrigeration but should be stored in a cool and dry place and kept tightly closed to extend product life.

Like an actual drug to ants

My Myrmecoctysus Mexicanus colony is the pickiest honey pot colony istg it’s so hard to get them to drink anything remotely sweet to get their repletes full. The second I put a feeder with this in there they immediately swarmed it like a Solenopsis colony would. I don’t know what they put in this, but my ants are very much hooked.

Best stuff I ever used

So I ordered the fluon, sunburst ant food, and the Galileo liquid feeders off Amazon. All the packages arrived perfect and very well packaged. I have never used any of Terry's products before this. I stripped off my old fluon and apply byformica fluon. I use a open top and it did a perfect job keeping the ants in. They absolutely couldn't cross it. Next I used the liquid feeders filled with sunburst ant food. The feeders are fantastic looking and really add a lot of class to my set ups. The ants quickly found and really loved the sunburst ant food. I will be buying All of these products in the future they are of the highest quality and frankly I was very impressed. So it gets a 10 out of 10 for me. I will be doing a complete review in my YouTube channel. Really great stuff Terry keep up the fantastic work promoting our hobby!!

auf dem weg zu einem Tropfen Sunburst fangen die meisten sogar an zu "rennen". :D also ich bin überzeugt dass es Ihnen schmeckt. Habe es noch nicht lange im Einsatz, deswegen kann ich nur Ihre Reaktion darauf beurteilen.

My Camponotus nicobarensis colony love it. Saves me mixing up sugar/honey water. Not the cheapest but it lasts a good amount of time when you buy the big bottle.

Ero stanco di cambiare sempre il miele e acquamiele ogni 2 o 3 giorni. Il Sunburst viene preferito rispetto a tutti i mieli e acquamiele provati. Il prodotto è stabilizzato, rispetto agli altri alimenti zuccherini che fermentano, se usati negli appositi contenitori proposti o in provette con cotone, può durare settimane senza ricambi. Provato con Lasius niger, Lasius grandis, Camponotus vagus, Camponotus barbaricus, Messor barbarus e Pheidole pallidula.
