I bought this for nostalgic reasons. I just wanted to buy a little radio I could take anywhere and listen wherever I go. I thought it would be fun. When I was a 12 year old kid in the very early1960's in a remote area of Southern Wyoming, I had a transistor radio Mom and Dad bought for me. It was so much fun to carry around in shirt or pants pocket and tune in a station to listen to on my own when working or playing in the fields. I have to say, I understand today why it was so much fun then, because it still is today. The tuner is small and very delicate (just like back then) except it actually tunes in far better. It takes a bit of time (a few seconds if you know the frequency you want) to get right on your station, but when you do, it stays tuned in very nicely with no static or cross-talk like the old ones had. Audio quality is really far better than you would expect for such a small package, far better that the ones I had as a kid. Reception is good even for remote stations. I listen in my house, out fishing, or anywhere I go. As much fun today as ever before.

I work well with electronics and I have worked with all kinds my entire life so I feel very confident to say that there was no damage to the radio itself however when initially opened and put batteries inside of, the on light would turn on when switched to the on position but the radio itself would not make any noise or leave any signal to show that it's working other than that light. without having to open it up I can only say that it probably was the speaker getting damaged through shipping or something else that caused an issue or the malfunction that occurred. I will say though for the price you get what you get and is cheap so if it got damaged it happens. and to give it some good reviews I will say that it is a comfortable sized radio the controls are in it wonderful positioning for easy use and it is a very well designed aesthetically and usability wise. if the radio were to be working I would give it 5 out of 5 stars no questions asked however since I do not have a working radio I cannot review whether the actual signal is good enough or if it's a quality sounding radio or if they even picks up the signal well and maybe it's just a fuzzy. but anything that doesn't have to do with the signal or sound which I cannot comment on I will say is designed very well to give the benefit of a doubt.

Bought this to use as a radio to use for a cruiser bicycle to have tunes while riding, as I didn't want to have one of my nicer radios on the bicycle to be exposed to inclement weather, damage or theft. Sound quality is good to excellent. The radio can a loud volume, if needed, without distortion. The tuning thumbwheel is a little fiddly, probably due to being new. After some use it will smooth out. I live near a metro and both FM and AM stations fill the dial. Thus far very little to no drift. I'm a radio geek and own many, many radios and could could go on about how this radio compares to another similar radio, but won't. I do wish it had a tuning light, but it is not a deal breaker. Also, I've not had the radio long enough to comment on battery life. I really like the swing up swivel antenna. Build quality seems good on the radio; however, a drop from much height at all my be catastrophic. As in my application (bicycle), a drop will be catastrophic to most any device, hence my choice for an inexpensive radio. For a Hamilton and a Lincoln, I stole it. **Update. I dropped the radio from a height of about four feet onto a hardwood floor with zero damage. More durable than I first thought.
