Pool Skimmer Socks - Pack of 20 Fine Mesh Swimming Pool & Spa Pre-Filter Savers for Filters, Baskets, and Skimmers

This skimmer socks work great and are a perfect fit on my pool skimmer basket and help trap small particles, dust & pollen. They maintain their integrity for a few weeks though I’m not sure how that affects performance. By the end of the week, mine look disgusting so I swap them out every week. You can, however, spray them gently with a hose. I use these socks at all times. I also have a Betta skimmer bot. Between the two, I rarely find things in my pump filter basket. I also use Skimmie skimmer basket handles which really reduce the effort it takes to replace these if you use basket handles. Finally, absolutely do not use these on a pump filter basket—if it comes off and gets sucked into your pump, you will probably need a new pump.

I am quite impressed with these socks! They pull out a lot of debris and gunk from my skimmer before it hits the filter, and made my DE last a lot longer. I typically don't backwash my DE filter when it gets dirty. I take it apart and clean the grids as I would when I winterize it. Its a messy job that I dread. With these socks i think only had to clean the grids once this past summer, as opposed to two to three times without the socks. I typically wash out the socks out and reuse them, they clean up very well. I get a a few weeks out of each one and that's with washing them out almost daily. Eventually they break down as they are a very fine material, but they are cheap enough to change as often as you need.

This is a great product and easy to use. We have several golden retrievers who allow us to swim their pool, and this product has allowed us to keep our filter and our water pump cleaner by catching the hair that our goldens leave in our pool. You have to remember to check this after swimming and I would highly recommend changing it daily if you have dogs swimming in your pool. If it was just normal day-to-day use with kids, this product could probably stay in your pool for several days, depending on how many times you use your pool.

When my pool pump died it was a span of about 2 weeks between dead pump, trouble shoot dead pump, declare dead pump dead, order new pump, receive and install new pump. During that time I did shock the pool twice. The pool grew cloudy and I knew I didn't want to back flush it every hour and add water every 3rd back flush. Looking for a product like this I was pleased to find exactly what I was looking for. These Skimmer socks work so well. I did have to change them out about every 2 hours at first but as the pool cleared up the time between sock changes became longer and longer. These skimmer socks really catch the fine stuff and have prevented me from having to back flush to pool over and over again. As a side note While the material is very fine you can wash these. First, allow the sock to dry, turn it inside out so you can shake out all of the contents that are stuck to the sock (You don't want that in your washer). You can shake them very clean but I do launder mine with a regular washing of clothes. when I pull them out of the washer I allow them to air dry and they are as good as new. Not sure how many washings they are going to tolerate but so far so good. One thing to watch for with these is not allowing them to get to clogged. As the pressure on your pump goes up it can be harmful to the pump. This is no different than a sand filter needing back flushing or a cartridge filter needing to be cleaned. Great Product!

I love these. They catch SO much little stuff that would normally collect in my filter or, worse, circulate back into the pool. This is especially true for the hundreds of almost microscopic Florida gnats that try setting up shop in my pool every night and are too small for any skimmer. I have also successfully used these while vacuuming the pool. Instead of all those sodium hydroxide flakes made by my chlorinator ending up in the filter, leeching back into the water and keeping the pH sky high, I can catch them in the sock, pull the sock off the basket and empty them into the trash. My one word of advice is to pull out the basket and clean daily, preferably right after the pump shuts off. When the pump shuts off, the sock tends to be pushed upward and then the debris you’ve caught starts making its way back into the pool. I’ve considered tossing a rock into the basket to see if that helps.

These are the best filter socks I’ve found. I purchased some of a different brand a couple months back and they deteriorated in the basket. These socks don’t deteriorate! They help catch small particles, helping to keep my water clear! I absolutely recommend!!

I put these on my filters for my shopvac so that my main filter doesn't get plugged up with fine dust, and these work great at blocking the finer particles of dust that get sucked up and it's easy to just pop these off dust them out and put them back on for multiple uses before needing to replace them. Anyone trying to save some money on filters these things are a great cheap method of prolonging your shop vac filters.
