Excellent product
Really pleased. Bought this after having to be rescued by a helicopter in the USA where we had no signal at the scene of a medical incident and my wife had to drive off and leave me to get help. Tested in regularly in the US recently when out of mobile / cellphone coverage and it worked perfectly, linked to the relevant Garmin App on my phone - you do not need to have mobile / cellphone signal to do this, the device relays the message on the phone via Satellite. You do need an active subscription to the relevant Garmin service. It will not work without this. It is also NOT a personal locator beacon don't mistake it for one or assume it functions like one. This allows two -way comms.

Does what it does very well
Not the full feature set, but great battery life. Sensible subscription options for the occasional user who just needs SOS backup, really.

Great
Awesome. Great product and service in the mountains is flawless. Good subscription (price/flexibility) too.

A decent device but with limited use if you're sailing
I bought this to let peole know where I was during long passages at sea. This product does what it says on the tin but the apps are predictably rubbish. The messaging app is OK, but if you want to publish your position for everyone to see, they can only see the last message you post. The weather forecasts are ridiculous if you're sailing - completely useless - and this doesn't allow you to download gribs or proper forecasts. Good points: - cheap compared to other devices, also from a subscription standpoint. - allows you to stay in touch with friends and family - allows you to send an SOS call (though if you're ocean sailing, you should have an EPIRB) - really well made device and rugged. Won't break easily. Bad points: - apps - weather - limited functionality.

Worth every penny
If you're looking at this product then you most likely know all about it so no point in me repeating all of its features. When I purchased mine, the most basic monthly subscription service cost about £13. A few months later it was reduced to around £8 per month which I feel is more reasonable. I take this with me every time I'm out on the hills and it provides a reassuring level of peace of mind. It is possible to stop and start the subscription when you think you won't be needing it, but I always forget to do so.

Brilliant bit of kit
I’m a sold mountain hiker, this is a potential life saver, works amazingly well. The sos is a great feature along with the two way communication with your selected contacts. Waterproof, shockproof. Easy to use with the correct subscription

It works when needed
Invaluable when you really need it but seems like a waste of money most of the time. The subscription system has now changed so not sure how much longer I will keep it as my iPhone now has satellite compatibility. I use it when sailing and motorcycling abroad , invaluable whilst sailing.

Am excited to test this for the Namibia 5-day Fish River Trail
Am still testing and getting ready for Namibia Fish River 5-day Trail and so far pretty cool. Essential features are messaging, SOS, 10min tracking & 6-day battery life ... so far looks fine ! The only reason for 1 star less is the battery behaving strangely making me not confident yet that I can do the full hike with one charge. A couple of times I charged it to 100% and within minutes of unplugging it, it was at 95%. But then it drops very slowly for the next few days. Probably need some long hikes to give me a better sense of the charge used per day.
