They pearls are in a netted pack so yes, the netting can be cut open and the pearls can be poured out on the floor to vacuuming up. Hope that helps

I do not know the size of the plastic pods you refer to but let me try to be of some help. Inside the bag are small netted pellets that are somewhat flexible in the small netted bag to be folded or scrunched up. Not sure about the plastic pod size--sorry--hope this was somewhat helpful.

Has anyone tried putting the gel beads in these holders?

I would not suggest that. The gels are sticky and somewhat not degradable. The holes in the pod holder and the sticky gels beads would be more of a mess.
