depends on how concentrated you want the smell to be. I use non scented laundry detergent along with this to minimize how much i use

What does it smell like?

It smells like a light men's Cologne but not overpowering.

How do you close the bottle? it says rotate to stop but I can’t see to make it work.

I'm not sure you will like this answer but let me give it a shot. You will have to push the pump back down and then turn it into the cap as it engages with the grooves that you will see just below the spout. Unfortunately when you do that you will undoubtedly loose a portion of the detergent because you have pumped it out by pushing the spout down to engage the grooves. I suppose you could pump it into your wash and then keep it down as you twist it into the cap so you do not lose the very valuable liquid. On the other hand, as long as you keep it upright on a shelf or table, why would you want to close the bottle? By design, the pump itself is self sealing until you pump it out.
