silly question, but are these extremely hard to chew without teeth??

While I have all my teeth, I would not think these hard to chew for someone used to chewing without teeth. There is a candy-like thin outer coating. You could suck on them until the coating is gone and the insides are easily chewed, like a stale gummy (slightly harder than a 'fresh' gummy would be). I hope that helps. As far as working, they work great to relieve heartburn/acid indigestion.

Lists 750 calcium carbonate in one place on the label, but 300 mg calcium on another place. Huh? I want it for the calcium content.

That's because one id calcium carbonate and the other is calcium. Calcium carbonate is 40% calcium 60% carbonate.

Are these tested on animals?

I don't know about animals and heart burn, but they work great for me!
