WICKMAN Taper Candle Shaver

Great tool to shave taper candle to fit your holder. Works just like a pencil sharpener. Remember you are only receiving one unit. Love it!

I can now fit a taper into a candlestick quickly, easily and centered (since it shaves all “sides“ equally, unlike hand carving with a knife). I will certainly get enough usage just this Christmas season alone to justify its purchase — and I’ll have it for many seasons to come. Cost per usage is amazingly CB tiny.

Based on the item photos I expected this to be a two-pack. Maybe I just didn’t read close enough, but probably wouldn’t have paid $7 knowing it was just one. But it does the trick, shaves a candle in the same manner as a pencil sharpener

Picture makes you think there are two of them. There was only one shipped to me. Product works nicely though but disappointed with the deception.

This taper shaver is such a wonderful little tool! I have a pair of antique candlesticks (a Brighton Bun) and modern taper candles are too wide at the base to fit. With this shaver, a couple of turns does the trick. Now I can use full-sized modern taper candles, instead of having to use smaller ones or trim the base by hand with a knife. Truly a 5 star product!

This didn’t work out for the candles I needed to make smaller at the base. My candles were about 3/4 of an inch in diameter and needed them about 1/2 inch diameter at the base. These may work well for larger diameter candles. I got them trimmed down a bit with this device but then I used my wife’s potato peeler to finish the job of thinning them, lol.

Solved all my candle problems. Highly recommend.

Photo makes you think you are getting two, not one. So marks off for that. Quite expensive for what it is for only one.

There only seem to be 2 choices for candle sharpeners. This one shows misleading photos of 2 metal units, but only delivers a single one. The other is lexan or acrylic, much less expensive, but only available in a large quantity at once, so if you only want one, it's actually much more expensive. Is this the best of 2 possible negatives? Maybe. I'd suggest a design change: I think a better option would be to replicate the old school pencil sharpener in a larger size, with a replaceable blade. So far, it works reasonably well. The main benefit over using a knife is that it's easier to direct the shavings.

In all the pictures it clearly shows as 2 pieces. You get only 1 piece. This is not made clear in the Description!

Works reasonably well on ordinary paraffin wax but pure beeswax candles must first be softened slightly under a hot water tap to avoid tearing
