Banks 42721 High-Ram Intake System

Shipping was quick, typical Banks quality. I was irritated that all of the small parts were loose in the shipping box, luckily they were all there. Direct fit on my 01 24v Cummins. The only discrepancies was the ground strap for the grid heater, it needs to be moved or lengthened, and the parts being loose in the box, otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

I recently installed the Banks 3” High Ram and a banks Bighead. At first I was a little bit disappointed because I couldn’t notice much difference. I had installed the Bighead a couple days earlier and was very impressed with the noticeable boost delivery and sustainable power under load. And when I installed the High Flow I had been reading some things on a Cummins forum, there are some uneducated statements about the Banks High Flow. After I drop the truck with @7500lb load with 20’ stock trailer. I was so amazed. My EGTs where around 120 degrees cooler under load at 2000rpm in 5th gear. And the power was very noticeable. The boost pressure gauge was a few reading a few pounds less pressure, so I had to get educated. Banks staff was awesome and they explained that the boost pressure dropped was dew to less drag and better flow of air. I was able to understand them and also I can experience the gains of power, lower EGTs and fuel economy under load.I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to improve the life of their Cummins.

Very noticeable difference in the truck. I pull heavy with my 2500 13000 lbs and my Egt's would stay in the 1200-1300 range constantly now I get to the 800-1000 range pulling. Went from 18mpg to 21mpg without trailer and gained 2mpg with trailer. Did notice lower boost than stock but that's only due to more flow in the system. Used to be at 13psi of boost doing 65mph now I'm at 8-10 psi but no power loss whatsoever. The only down side is the price but after watching some test bench videos banks was the clear choice. Install was easy and straightforward (YouTube is your friend) only problem I encountered was my oil dipstick needed some bending so it would function properly.I did not in any way get compensated for this review. I paid for it with my money and am giving my honest review.

Amazing! So glad I bolted this on my 2001 Dodge Ram Longbed 2WD extended Cab with 4:10 gears and 47 RE transmission. It has 200k miles on it, and when I purchased it, it had an open K&N cone type filter setup.. That setup got hot air from the engine compartment and also got dirty very quickly. I replaced it with this intake horn and the S&B Filters 75-5090D and definitely seeing 1mpg better unloaded (22mpg) and also pulling a 4000lb 21 ft travel trailer (15mpg) when I keep the speed at about 65mph. DEFINTELY RECOMMENDED, BEST INTAKE HORN YOU CAN BUY. Banks really does proper engineering and it shows in the results when using this intake horn.

There didn't seem to be anything wrong with the product except that it doesn't fit an 06 5.9 24v Cummins. The gaskets that came with it were also not very nice.

So a friend of mine bought a new truck, and I thought I’d dress up the engine bay of my old truck with this. Easy install, took about an hour and change. Only annoying piece is you’ll need to find both metric and standard tools, not sure why they choose to mix 10mm and 1/2 inch sized fasteners.Motor sounds quieter, less boost at same speeds, lower egt. Same power with less boost—pretty amazing. Buy and you won’t regret it.Plus it looks real snazzy.

Great low end torque gains! Better air flow! Just remember that two bolts are longer than the others and that matters! I forgot and put one on one side and the other on the right side. Easy mix up to do in the heat of the moment!

expectations achieved.definitely twice the size of my stock intake.noticed a more qwick and steady increase in boost,as well as overall throttle response.another added bonus i found after installation is a deeper, more throaty tone at idle. like i tiger growling.easy to install.if you want the best intake, i highly recommend banks as your go too.yeah its not cheap, but nobody ever said quality was.
