No it does not. It simply makes draining your system easier!

This can be mixed with copper fittings and blocks right? As long as it's not aluminum I know that correct?

It's nickle plated brass, copper should be fine, but you should still use a corrosion inhibitor.

How restrictive of flow is this when open, can i use one of these inplace of a ball valve for a bypass?

So far the flow seems normal i use it as my drain ball so im not sure if it would work for you .. its also my first loop wish i could be more helpful
