IT WORKS! And at very good range too. Compatible with Linux, even from VM.
I had bought this unit to replace one that I had been using from MPOW, which seemed to work perfectly fine in the past but lately had been playing games with me. In fact, one of its tricks was to work perfectly well on Linux running on a Virtual Machine INSIDE of Windows, but NOT actually working on the Windows host itself! (not even Windows 11 either...) Sometimes it would, sometimes it wouldn't - depended on what kind of mood it was in I guess. Often times I would have to "forget" the device entirely from the menu in order for what I was connecting to it to be recognized on the next plugin. Not anymore - EDUP rescued me from that despair, confusion and misery. This bluetooth adapter was PLUG AND PLAY all the way. Recognized immediately, drivers were installed or identified automatically, and no hacky 3rd-party software to deal with (you never know, afterall). It has a range of about 20 feet I would say, and that's inside a home with REALLY thick insulation between the walls - at least compared to how average homes are constructed nowadays. So it would probably be much further in an open office environment for instance. I really like the antenna do, I do believe it's functional and not just for looks - though it looks cool too. Thank you, "LOVE!"

Could Not be much happier... Fantastic purchase.
3 years later update... Still works AMAZING, I LOVE THIS THING... I HAVE TWO AND THEYRE FANTASTIC! I didnt feel like finding the disc when I needed to download drivers again on a new PC build, so I looked through the reviews and found someone else who said """Google for "driverscollection Realtek 8761 BT4.0 Bluetooth-Driver for Windows". I downloaded it from Driverscollection.""" I did that, and the driver works, downloaded it, restarted the PC, listening to shaboozey on my sleeppals mini earbuds and vibing... The driver is published by Lenovo but works for my Tuf Gaming motherboard, so no worries there. Ran a virus scan after downloading, no threats were found. Couldnt be happier :) I will have this device connected to every computer I own til the day I die, assuming the technology is still needed.. My PC came with a dogwater bluetooth connection. Sitting with my face pressed against the case and at best I would get garbled static-y noise. This bluetooth connector was easy to install, however the drivers are sent to you on a DISC!! So to install it I had to connect my external CD/DVD drive to download the driver. A little bit of a hassle when all my USB ports are taken up already, and most people arent going to have the external drive, and new PCs definitely dont come with them anymore.. From reviews, looks like you can get the drivers online, but just more hassle. So i gave four stars for "easy to install"... but the device itself is great, works well, I can get about 50 feet away before losing signal, and not alot of walls in my way... I love it, it was well worth the money. Im so happy to be able to use my wireless earbuds instead of a corded headset. Incredibly happy with this.

Tricky to install
My experience is exactly that of Michelle and Tim's. This item only comes with an install mini-CD... and many laptops today don't have an optical drive. (The other Bluetooth dongle I bought for my desktop had both a mini-cd and a thumbdrive). In all fairness it was fairly easy to go to the website and download the installation software. However on installation, it kept giving me an error involving supposed "unauthorized" Bluetooth components (I'd guess the internal Realtek Bluetooth device already in the laptop), as well as Realtek and Intel driver errors. I later found the real issue was with Intel, which insists on installing their own Bluetooth drivers-- even though an Intel Bluetooth device isn't installed. The fix for this: Control Panel / Device Manager / Remove Intel driver (be sure the microscopic box is checked that removes the software itself). Reboot... and this device works fine. You will have to do this EVERY TIME Windows updates drivers. Windows is a pain. Range depends on elevation. When I first installed it on the front USB port of my computer, the range was no better than my prior micro USB dongle. In order to get better range I had to attach it to a shelf about 3 ft higher. desktop computer that is sitting on the floor... chances are the range on this will be no better than a micro-dongle. You may need to raise the device higher. The installation and setup was more complex than a Bluetooth connection should be. Once I managed to get it to work, it later re-connected with no problem. But because of Intel drivers, this device does not install as easily as it should. The Intel drivers AND SOFTWARE must be totally removed from your computer. The positive note: once all this hassle was done, the device does what I bought it for: it extended my Bluetooth range without a skip or glitch. So it's okay... but the other one I purchased was a lot easier to install. Still, if the Intel drivers are completely removed from your computer, this installs and works well.

Works great after initial hiccup
So this works great and the range is excellent after a bit of a hiccup getting it installed. It only comes with a CD to install the drivers and like most computers today, I don't have an optical drive. I used the link that people have mentioned here multiple times and is in the Q and As. But the thing that really threw me for a loop were the headphones I already had paired. I could not reconnect them nor forget them. Which after a bit of thought makes sense because they were paired to horrible BT device that came with this computer. I struggled trying to get it to remove the old paired devices but it seemed impossible. Finally I tried repairing them as though they are new devices and that worked great. The lesson? If you already have BT on your computer and have some things paired, you should probably forget them before installing the drivers. I think it would have simplified things for me. This is not an issue with this device, hence I am still giving it 5 stars. This is more in the way Windows handles having an existing BT driver replaced.

I'd rather wear corded headphones
I am constantly using my earbuds with my phone and my laptop whenever I'm out on my motorcycle or when I'm working on things around my home. But when I use my desktop I have to use my corded USB headset because Bluetooth wasn't a thing when I built this monster. So I bought this "Long Range" Bluetooth transmitter in order to finally use my earbuds with my gaming machine. It was a simple plug and play, my computer saw it, installed the drives, allowed me to easily connect to my ear buds. Once I was able to hear my desktop audio playing in my head I was in heaven..... then I was quickly thrown into hell as I had the audacity to go to the kitchen to get a drink out of the fridge. The audio started sputtering and then silence shortly followed then the "oh huh" sound of the emotionless lady who lives in my ear buds saying "Connection Lost". I know what you are thinking "you walked out of range" or "you put too many walls between you and the transmitter". FYI while wearing my USB headset I can walk to the fridge without taking off the headset because its that close, I never lost line of sight with the transmitter. After I sat down and got it to reconnect it was ok for a moment then it started sputtering again and cutting out as I was in a death stare with the transmitter. This POS is a crappier Bluetooth transmitter than the one in my water damaged phone. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this, the price is the only thing nice about this thing.

Good Linux Compatibility, Excellent Range
This works as Realtek RTL8761B in Linux. I used this with Debian 13 with only a little homework. I found that I had to place the RTL8761-related firmware and config files in a specific directory after retrieving them from an installer online. The RP-SMA antenna connector is conveniently a standard if you wish to switch out the antenna or have a cable but the included antenna works about as well as any I tried. Inside the house I was seeing a car parked on the street about 100 feet away advertising BT features.

Works well - but there's no link to download drivers
This Bluetooth adapter seems to work very well..... Installation could have been a nightmare: The letters on the manual were almost microscopic - no kidding. I had to use the macro on my phone's camera to read the general information provided. The manual was practically useless. The adapter came with a small CD. Not many (any?) computers made in the last five or six years even HAVE a CD player. Fortunately, my oldish computer DID have one, so I was able to load the disk, then load the drivers. Without the CD drive, I wouldn't have been able to install it. My advice to the manufacturer -- have a website that has the device installation files (maybe you do), Include a sheet that lists the location of the installation files in with the adapter. It doesn't make sense to have to spend a lot of time searching for a set of installation files -- OR, use a cheap USB drive (small capacity ones are really inexpensive), put the install files on the USB drive and include it with the adapter. Even if you have to add a dollar or two (to cover the cost of the flash drive), this would probably avoid returns and complaints. If I didn't have a CD drive, I would NOT have been able to install this and would have returned it.

range and functionality increase
I was on the hunt for a Bluetooth adapter that wouldn't let me down during my client calls, and I decided to give the long range adapter a try. Honestly, it's been a game-changer. Installation was a breeze; I just plugged it into my computer, and it was ready to go—no complicated setup or software needed. The standout feature for me is definitely the range. I've been able to walk around my home office and even step into other rooms without losing connection to my headset. This mobility has been invaluable during long calls, allowing me to stay engaged without being tethered to my desk. Most importantly, the connection stability has been rock solid. I haven't experienced any drops or audio glitches, which is crucial when you're discussing important details with clients. It's given me peace of mind knowing that I can rely on my setup to perform well, even in lengthy meetings. In summary, if you're looking for an easy-to-install Bluetooth adapter that offers great range and dependable connectivity for professional use, this one is definitely worth considering. It's enhanced my work-from-home setup significantly.

Don't use for xpadneo. Random disconnects.
The device is functional but won't be suited for my needs. Firmware RTL8761BU chip set is 0xdfc6d922 ^Known problematic for xpadneo. It's in the troubleshooting section of that site. Essentially my Xbox controllers are able to connect after updating their own firmware but they disconnect randomly while playing due to firmware for the usb bluetooth. They do reconnect automatically but it's a disruption that's frequent enough that I am going to be getting a Xbox wireless adapter so that I can use xone instead.
