Miss Spider's Wedding

I LOVE this book! The pictures are colorful, and the story is told in Iambic Pentameter. It’s got action, drama, and suspense. For older adults, it is reminiscent of Snydley whiplash tying Nell to the railroad tracks, but with a twist. I’m a teacher and Grandmother, so it’s perfect for me to share with my kids, especially at Halloween (spiders).

The rhymes in this are unbelieveable. Awesome poetry. I like that the author uses big words when appropriate (“ectosketeton”) and doesn’t talk down to children. I actually practice reading this aloud because it deserves to be read fluently . It’s a good story about finding the right mate.

I loved this book as well as the illustrations. It's very cleverly done. That said, I wouldn't recommend for super young children, as some of the material might be considered scary - as some have already mentioned.

Longer than most of the Miss Spider books, this is a lovely tale that reinforces the value of true love - it's not about appearances, but the unique qualities that make one soul respond to another. I thought it might be a little over my two year old daughter's head, but from the first night I read it, she was clamoring to "hear it again!" The rhyming text and gorgeous illustrations make this book a treat for eyes and ears. I am seriously thinking of giving this book as a wedding ag gift to every couple I know!
