Review: A Must-Have Read for Wordpress Beginners! - This book is an absolute gem for anyone looking to get a website off the ground - whether you’re a total newbie or someone like me who’s been around the WordPress block a few times. The step-by-step guidance is crystal clear and genuinely covers everything you’ll need. It breaks down the process in such an approachable, conversational tone that even the most tech-shy reader could follow along with confidence. I especially appreciated the attention to those often-overlooked fundamentals - like setting permalinks with page titles - which are crucial for long-term site health and SEO but rarely explained well. Even as a more seasoned user, I found myself nodding along and picking up fresh tips. There’s a wealth of advice packed into these pages, and it never feels dry or overly technical. The author’s style is friendly, encouraging, and peppered with insights that make the whole experience feel like chatting with a savvy friend who’s got your back. If you’re thinking about making a site - or just want to sharpen your WordPress KB - do yourself a favour and buy this book. You’ll be glad you did. Friendly and helpful
This is a very good example of an instructional book that is easy to follow and acxtually quite fun in places. The advice given is fully specific where it has to be, but also informational on a more general level so as to increase the reader's understanding of website construction and administration. I have not yet discovered what "Hello Dolly" on Wordpress is but I do now know that it is annoying and should be deleted! I am using this book to build a website for my local theatre, it is an invaluable and highly useable guide to the whole labyrinthine process.

Best and most useful guide I've read on website creation
This is part of the excellent Funny You Should Ask series of books that help with some of the challenges of publishing and marketing your books, based on the author’s own experience in the business. Whether you’re an indie or traditionally published author, this guide will help you through all the things you need to do to build a website, or update your existing one. While it’s technical in places out of necessity, the advice is easy to follow. It’s delivered with humour, examples and an understanding of the challenges you face, and offers plenty of tips to make the most of your website. As someone who already has a website, I was surprised by how many useful and practical tips I found to improve what I have. This included how to create more inviting welcome and about pages, how to boost search rankings on Google, and all manner of useful add on extras that could improve the website visibility and quality. I don’t often get excited about websites, but this book not only helped me make some significant improvements, but gave me a better understanding of its place and importance to me in marketing myself as an author. Without question this is the best and most useful book I’ve read on creating a website, and I’ve read quite a few.

Unfortunately, this won't show as a Verified Purchase, as I bought it from Apple (sorry, Amazon)
This is far and away the best book I've found on setting up a website with WordPress. I've now got all Lori's books and they are rare in fulfilling their promises of being true step-by-step books, most heartening in their simplicity and genuinely friendly encouragement.

Great Book for Learning to do a Website Step-by-step!
I have had a domain name for a long time contemplating doing a webpage for my book business. I kept putting it off not knowing what I was doing. This book saved me. I had tried navigating WordPress on GoDaddy but became even more confused. I stumbled on this book and was pleasantly surprised that it is easy to follow and forces you to get organized from the start and then how to go on and create your page. One thing that also was great was that it tells you how to own your own domain and gives reasons why not to turn everything over to a developer without certain protections in place. That alone totally saved me a lot of heartache. One chapter talks about how to keep from paying high prices every month to maintain a page. Also it talks about how to transfer your current webpage to any domain you want. I would definitely recommend this to a beginner who is thinking about creating their first web page. It has so much great info I have not found elsewhere.

Decent Book With Good Ideas
I was expecting something else, I guess. The book had some good ideas, but I certainly wasn’t able to make a blog website on Wordpress with it. Some of the photos were too fuzzy for me to read. I’m still glad I purchased it because there are good ideas about maintaining your site.
