This is my go to styling product. I use it along with the co-wash or clarifying shampoo, deep conditioner, leave in conditioner, the twist defining cream, then the gel. I like As I Am products as they play well together. This item is a must try. Not everyone will like it, because we all have personal preferences when it comes to styling, but you won't know unless you try it. The AIA smoothing gel is better than the AIA curling jelly IMHO. The consistency is light and very smooth. Even though it's light it really holds my twist n curl style. Just make sure to allow your hair to dry and set. I find that if I use this with two strand twists rolled on flexirods it will take 24 hrs to dry and another day to reach the perfect curl set. I like to start the style with tighter curls as they will stretch when I re-twist at night. I have very long thick, kinky curly hair (3C-4A,B) if that helps gauge with my drying recommendations. Note I've never had issues with flaking or white dots with this gel even if I reapply to reset the style a few days later. You will need a clarifier though if you restyle multiple times and have an extended wash period. I don't find the As I Am clarifier to be overly drying. It cleans the products without stripping. Just make sure to moisturize after. Also, IMHO this is not a holding gel equivalent to something like a firm level Eco styling gel. This gel is meant to be used as a styler and compliments other styling products and leave ins without adding build up. Which is the opposite of a heavy gel. If you're looking for something to lay thick, or kinky, or coily edges this is probably not for you. If you have wavy hair with an elongated curl pattern like 2C-3A this might help your edges look more tidy, but I emphasize this is not like a firm Eco styling gel. But, if you want something to help fight frizz, and make your twists or coils smooth and hold their style this may be exactly what you're looking for.

I loved this hair gel the first time i tried it! It made detangling easy with wet hair and my hair air dried to a nice soft, frizz free curl! The scent is light and coconutty. I took a star off because of the way it was packaged. It arrived open and all over the bag it came in. The lid should be sealed with plastic or tape and it should be put into a box not a bag. I had to waste my time and actually return it! So, I left it outside since gel was everywhere on the bag and the poor UPS driver had to pick it up. I just ordered another but I don’t think I should have had to go through the trouble!

I can put it in my unruly curly hair / wavey when dry hair. It will be the only thing I buy for now on. I like as I am products.

I love the texture and I love the way it makes my hair feel not hard. Just nice and wavy.

I read a positive review of this product on a natural hair blog. I decided to purchase it so that I could try out some new hair styles on my 5 inch "frohawk." I followed the instructions to apply on clean damp hair. I did this and then twisted my hair to create spiral curls. The plus factors: T) the gel worked well at holding the curls. I like the fragrance of the gel. After sweating profusely the curls still held. The minus: it made my hair look dry and it flaked some. I'll use less gel next time and see if this will make a difference. Overall, this product is ok.

I really like this product. It's made of mostly natural ingredients, which is appealing to me. Another great thing is that I only need a very small amount to be affective. It works more effectively if the hair is damp, so I spray it with water mixed with a tiny amount of vegetable glycerin before I use it. If can also be reactivated with more water, which is nice, so there's very little product buildup.It makes my 4a/4b hair nice and smooth and shiny. It's amazing that I can get that result with such a small amount! It used to take a lot of gel to do that, especially when it gets near the time for a relaxer touch-up. The gel smells good too; like coconuts. I know that this product is targeted toward African American consumers, but there is no reason why it can't be used by anyone. I would recommend this gel to anyone who wants a smooth, shiny look with only a small amount of product, regardless of ethnicity or hair type.

He probado muchos geles de peinado pero este es el mejor sin duda alguna El unico pero es que el producto es un poco caro para la cantidad que tiene. Por lo de más,lo recomiendo 😉

I’m not quite sure I used the product right but as far as I can tell it’s really good. It slicks back the hair without looking oily and it stays in the hair if you want it to. I recommend.

Acheté afin de réaliser mes dread. Ce gel est parfait ! Il n'emet pas d'odeur désagréable. Les résidu sont trèèèèès minime et surtout il n'abime pas le cheveux, tout en faisant une coupe très naturel sans cet effet " gel " que les autres font. Je recommande !

È denso, quindi con poco prodotto e un po’ d’acqua va bene, fa bene la sua funzione!
