2005 Focus this unit will do PATS
I purchased this so I could add new transponder keys to my 2005 Ford Focus 4dr 2.0 using Forscan. Using this hardware plugged into my laptop using Forescan, I was able to program keys as I wanted. I had previously purchased the keys and previously had them mechanically cut to match my working keys. I only had one working transponder key when I purchased this 2005 vehicle in 2016, I added two ignition keys using this hardware and the Forescan software. The purpose of my review, and my purchasing this hardware/software, was to make the software change to add my newly-cut keys to the "list" permitted to start the car. This device has a switch to switch between normal OBD2 and CAN BUS. Since my 2005 focus required only normal OBD2 I have not flipped this switch nor have i tested it on CAN BUS. I cannot report on CAN BUS or Focus newer than 2005. I have several other USB>OBDII adapters including the Auto Ingenuity Proline with GM enhancement. That hardware would not work for Ford and therefore I needed to make this purchase. Because I had several other devices previously installed on my Windows XP laptop (that never gets on the internet) I do not know if I can properly report on the driver installation. I can say that on my ~2003 era WIN XP laptop with several other OBD2 items installed, I only needed to install the simple serial driver provided with the hardware on this unit to make it work. This may or may not apply to you. This hardware shipped to me with a sheet of paper full of links to web addresses of drivers. I downloaded and installed the windows XP driver and it worked perfectly first try with no issues. In conclusion, I know from experience how difficult it is to get conclusive answers about hardware/software for Ford especially with PATS, and I wish I could be more helpful. I can report this unit will do PATS on a 2005 Focus, without flipping the CAN switch as of 12/7/2016. I used my [...] account to get around the timer. You can do PATS with or without [...] account. Beyond that I can not provide any verifiable facts. I have not tried any other tests or "service items" other than PATS with this software/hardware on my 2005 Focus. Use at your own risk. I would definitely purchase this unit again for my needs. It was well packed, and shipped quickly.

Cheap and easy diagnostic tool!
I should start by mentioning that FORScan warns that "The adapter is NOT recommended for this car - some FORScan functions may not be available or not work properly"; however, I had no issues. I was able to read all the module codes on the car, including some old ABS codes, an RVM (rear vehicle monitoring) code, and SSU (start stop unit) codes. Thanks to this device, I was also able to perform an AFS (adaptive front lighting system) test and calibration, along with isolating a broken wire that likely is stopping my exterior door buttons from working. Definitely worth the $40! In terms of flaws, there is only one. The lack of auto-switching between HS-Can and MS-Can means you have to flip a physical switch every time, which can be irritating. On the bright side though, it is a really fun and tactile switch to flip.

Fantastic money saver well worth it.
Good quality at a great price. Had to program f150 keys in the PATs system. Had no problems. This cost a quarter of the price to have it done. Easy to use.

Forscan detected not enough performance of the adapter used
The cable looks fine, but FORScan displays a message stating that it does not support all functions.

Just what I needed and saved me a lot of money.
Easy to use. Solved my problem quickly. My car is an older ( 2001 ). It has been unable to start for several months due to a PATS problem. I didn't want to spend the $600 to $800 the dealer said it would cost to fix. I ordered and received this scan tool one day. I plugged it into my laptop and download the program. I then plugged it into the car and followed the on screen prompts. It told me that my keys needed reprogrammed. The downloaded program was able reprogram the keys. In less than an hour the car was running and back to normal. Well worth the money.

Compatibility issues
I'm using FORscan v.2.3.71 with a '14 F150 5.0L. Upon connecting this device, FORscan reported that it wasn't fully compatible and that some functions may not work. There is also the inconvenience of having to flip the HS-CAN/MS-CAN switch to fully read the onboard computers. I decided to purchase the OBDLink EX FORScan OBD Adapter which FORscan shows is a fully compatible device. I returned the OHP and connected the OBDLink and no issues were shown. All checks and modifications were successfully completed with the OBDLink. Don't waste your time with the OHP.

Cheap and useful
Package is simple, just a bag with device and CD. Device is clearly some kind of China import, HS/MS switch is wrongly marked (on my device it is marked as HS/HS, confusing but from original picture I was able to determine which position is HS and MS so I don't take it as an serious error). Disc contains driver and Forscan software, both outdated, but it can be easily updated. Device was used with latest Forscan and plugged to Mondeo Mk3 TDDi, reading and programming works flawlessly. I am very satisfied.
