Canon RF 50mm F1.8 STM Lens

The Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM is a fantastic little lens that punches well above its price point. It’s lightweight, compact, and delivers sharp, clean images with beautiful background blur thanks to the wide f/1.8 aperture. Autofocus is quick and quiet, making it great for both stills and casual video. I’ve used it for portraits, street photography, and even product shots, it’s incredibly versatile. Build quality feels solid for a budget lens, and it balances nicely on my Canon EOS R without making the setup front-heavy. Love this fast lens works great on canon R100 cam. This new mirrorless RF 50/1.8 STM is Canon's least expensive mirrorless RF lens, and possibly the sharpest. It is a superb lens in spite of its giveaway price.

The lens arrived well packed and in perfect condition. The image quality is clear and sharp,and it’s fits my camera r6 perfectly. Very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to others.

I upgraded from a 2009 Canon 7D to a 2024 Canon EOS R50 and I was unaware Canon uses “RF” lenses now. Obviously the 50mm lens is a legend but the price point is kind of insane. Like the AF-mount 50mm lens is like $160. I know the RF lenses have a lot more technology in them but being 3x the price of its predecessor is wild. Otherwise I still feel like it’s worth it. Only con is the price, everything else is amazing like usual.

Nifty 50, great lens, great price. It's compact and at f1.8 its good for day and night. It's a focal length that's about the same as the human eye so its a nice walk around lens. Would definitely recommend.

Shockingly, it is one of the best items I ever bought. Although influencers on the social media always praise this lens, it really surprised me. The potential you get of basically just using this lens is crazy. It offers an amazing 1.8 aperture which performs incredibly good even at low light scenarios. Even the build material that is used just feels reliable and sturdy that just make you feel safe when having the lens attached or even detached I consider this product as PERFECT in price, performance, size, weight, and build material. If you want to upgrade your photography level this is a big jump despite the low price compared to the performance, I heavily recommend this lens.

I picked up this lens a few weeks ago, and I’m blown away by how much quality you get for such a compact, affordable piece of gear. For true sharpness of the lens, shoot at f/2.8-4. Autofocus is quick and accurate, though you can hear a faint noise if you’re recording video. The build feels solid for the price, even if it’s not weather-sealed. Overall, this lens is an amazing value. It’s a great addition to any kit, especially if you’re just starting out or want a versatile prime without spending a fortune. Highly recommended!

Lightweight and excellent performance. Versus real top end, I guess blowing up onscreen and really pixel-peeping differences exist but in my real world it's tack sharp. Weather sealing might be a help, but my non pro use means it's a whatever benefit I don't want to pay for. It's very much plastic that feels like it will last if treated carefully, not thrown into a bag after a busy pro day. Oh, and it "Image Stabilisation" would be nice for more low-light flexibility but the fast aperture can help if not a flash gun situation. Ideally suited to walk around stuff and general people pics, but portraits are in its remit. Overall good bang for buck in a system I am still on the fence with (same as the others) at this juncture.
