Conviction: The Untold Story of Putting Jodi Arias Behind Bars [Martinez, Juan] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Conviction: The Untold Story of Putting Jodi Arias Behind Bars Review: Well Worth The Money!! - We bought a Hard Copy book....don't know why it says Kindle?! Oh well....probably us clicking on something incorrectly! Anyway....read on..... Excellent!! Our little group sat down with this book not necessarily looking for "new stuff" that wasn't presented in court, but to get a feel for what was going on in Juan's mind as he sought justice for Travis while fighting the Evilness he was faced with. We will not use her name in our review. We will not give that Evilness the satisfaction of having her name in our commentary. We all saw for ourselves how this Evilness openly and shamelessly lied her way through after the killing and throughout the court proceedings. What we could not see or know was how Juan's mind was calculating her every move. The book took us into his mind as he stayed up long hours sifting through all the previous year's evidence in front of him. He worked long hours because in his heart he knew there was something there that was missing....the key to this Evil being! His attention to detail in telling this story so well had us right there in his office with him. We could feel his anxiety build as he began to see the whole story come to light in front of him in mounds of receipts and witness statements. He explains what was going through his mind as he viewed the multitude of videos and he had her pegged from the start. He knew he had to come up with a solid plan to keep her from taking control of him as well as the courtroom. In the chapters of this book you are able to see how he goes about controlling this manipulative conniving pathological liar. As you read each chapter and the intensity builds so does your anxiety levels. You feel his joy when the gas cans and their importance come to light and no one, not even the Duh-fense Team, had a clue as to their importance. We saw how the evidence surrounding the gas cans was presented in court, but what we didn't know was the long hours late into the evenings that it took to bring this information to light. Juan takes you there and walks you through step by step as he uncovered the evidence that would put this Evilness in her place....PRISON!! The only chapters we had difficulty reading through were those where she was on the stand on direct examination from Nurmi. It was just as excruciating reading as it was listening to the two of them during the trial! It brought back all those sick feelings we got while watching the trial. They are just as SICK in writing as they were live on TV! However, we could see why Juan added portions of her testimony in his book. He provided his thoughts as he analyzed her every word and expression as she sat there lying under oath. Little did she or the Duh-fense know about Juan's "Ace in the Hole" that was coming their way!! Usually at our age, reading put's us to sleep, BUT NOT THIS BOOK!! We couldn't put it down! It was so well written it's as if you're right there alongside Juan looking through all the evidence and watching him build his case. We've read some comments where it was mentioned that the reader was disappointed because they thought they were going to find out new evidence that was not presented in court, however we did not go in with those thoughts in mind. We can thoroughly understand that since her appeal is in the works Juan would never say or do anything to be the cause of a reversal. We're sure that there probably is quite a bit we will never know about, but what he did share, we are thoroughly satisfied with. What we saw in court was enough to last us a lifetime. We don't ever want to hear about this Evilness again!! Congratulations Juan Martinez! You did a fantastic job in court bringing the Evilness out into the open for all to see and then slapped her down, you got justice for Travis, and wrote a FANTASTIC book! Our money was well spent! Enjoy your reading all......we sure did! Retired Old Ladies for Juan Martinez! RIP Travis.... Review: EXCELLENT Book - Get It ASAP!!! - Briefly, this is the absolute BEST book I have ever read about a trial, bar none...well, maybe not better than "In Cold Blood," but that story is really not in the same category. Mr. Martinez's ability to describe his use of evidence, how his approach with this cold-blooded murderer evolved, and why he decided to adopt a scattershot approach with regards to introducing evidence in both direct questioning and cross-examination, was for me absolutely riveting reading. Mr. Martinez was nothing short of brilliant in recognizing early on the murder's subtle ability to manipulate and spin the very questions asked of her in such a way as to cloud both truth AND lies in a way advantageous to herself. He saw the sympathy-inducing way the murderer used her responses in order to deliberately mislead and manipulate the jurors, and how he decided to use a combative approach to force her to give her questions requiring a "yes" or "no" answer, without embellishment or explanation. I especially enjoyed the way he immediately sensed that when answering a question regarding something she did, she always seemed to take responsibility, but then subtly tagged a blaming statement onto someone else in order to very subtly plant in authorities' minds the idea that she was not really culpable for her actions. I am a psychologist by training and profession and can attest that I completely missed this manipulation by the murderer while watching her under direct examination on TV. I also very much admired how Mr. Martinez refused to let the murderer off easily when her gruesome handiwork was shown graphically in photos of her victim by basically saying, "What is the matter, why are you hiding you're face? Did you not inflict this wound, did you not witness this firsthand? Were you crying when you repeatedly stabbed Mr. Alexander? Were you crying when you slit his throat? Why are you pretending that this is difficult for you?" And this insistent questioning while jumping randomly from point to point to keep the murderer confused and unbalanced clearly paid off; she clearly required a chronological approach to stay a few steps ahead of the game so she could tailor her responses accordingly. By using this non-linear approach, and refusing to allow any embellishment by the murderer's responses, we were able to watch her complete meltdown on the stand. The psychologist testifying for the prosecution was spot-on in diagnosing the murderer with Borderline Personality Disorder, and Mr. Martinez recognized this and tailored his approach accordingly without perhaps knowing the diagnostic criteria of BPD. I can't recommend this book highly enough

Trรจs bien รฉcrit et bien plus factuel que le livre de Nurmi. Si vous ne lisez qu'un seul livre sur ce cas, je recommande vivement celui-ci.

I really loved this book. After watching the whole trial and reading any information I could get my hands on I still found a lot of facts I didn't know in this book. Juan Martinez is both an unrivaled prosecutor and a great author, he kept me glued to the pages! It was great to read his in-depth narrative of the investigation, and it helped me to understand his behavior and strategy in the courtroom and identify the most decisive moment in the trial (some of the testimony I had dismissed as less important actually turned out to be crucial). Highly recommend to anyone interested in this case! I really admired how this shrewd prosecutor was able to take such a LIAR to task!

If like me you followed the Jodi Arias case, and found the work of Juan Martinez, really admirable, don't think it twice, you will love this book. Neatly written, it takes the reader from the crime scene to the conviction in a subtle but thrilling way. Don't miss it.

If you have ever followed the Jodi Arias trial then you might be highly impressed with the tactics of the lead prosecutor Juan Martinez. I am one of his biggest admirers. I have read nearly every book written on Jodi Arias and this book tops all of them. This is first-hand detail of the case from the perspective of the prosecutor. However, I know that there were few facts that he concealed telling us due to his legal boundaries but overall it is a great read. The way he cracked open the case and dealt with a maniac like Jodi is commendable. The book doesn't tell you anything that is not the part of the trial but even if you have seen and followed the trial very closely, you cannot stop reading this book.

Bravo Mr. Martinez! It has been a very long time since I have enjoyed reading a book as much as I have reading "Convicted". I find it so very interesting as I am like so many,.yes I am 1 of the hundreds of thousands of people worldwide that followed the case of the most vile, evil, pathological lying murderer of recent time being brought to justice by the talented and captivating prosecutor. When I stop and think of all the hundreds if not a thousand hours I spent reading and watching and waiting and waiting for justice to prevail is truly mind boggling yet still absolutely nothing compared to all the Alexander family and friends endured. I still found myself unable to put this book down as page by page Juan shares his perspective as the case unfolds. This book answers any question you might have and you will understand the detail of each process and know why evidence could or could not be shared, if shared then when, from the infamous "letters" to the 3rd gas can. It feels like the closure needed. I have always felt that a lesser man or woman would not have succeeded in putting her where she belongs, behind bars for what I hope will be her natural life and this book proves it. Well done Juan, thankfully you are meticulous in all you do whether in or about the court room. I have read every book written on her and this is definitely the BEST!
