Eurotool Third Hand With Tweezers - HOL-165.00

I purchased this item to help me hold a strip solder while I was working on projects. The product is pretty simple a weighted base with adjustable arm holding tweezers. Here is the low down: 1) The price was very inexpensive when I purchased the item. 2) The base is weighted. 3) The arm is adjustable. 4) It is sized well. 5) The tweezers grip until you press on them to release. 6) Product appears well made. I think this is a great gadget which I have already used for many purposes. Basically any time you wish you had another hand to hold something you are working on (it has to be something small) then this is the item for you. I would highly recommend. Nice little holder. Better than most of those cheap "extra hands" with aligator clips. But this is really just a clever packaging of two pieces: a base, and a tweezer. The base has a couple of degrees of freedom, so you loosen, twist, tighten to get the right angle for the tweezers. They are quality tweezers with a good grip. There is a slight outward bow, so they will not hold a piece of paper in the middle, for instance. It's really meant for gripping with the tip. And it works very well for holding items at most any angle. The photo doesn't show it, but it can even rotate, so that the tweezers open vertically, rather than more horizontally, as shown. I used it to hold parts, wire while soldering, small items under the 3D inspection scope. The best 3rd hand I've found -- and now I have a forth (I ordered another).

I have only used this once, but it did exactly what I needed it for. It's got a heavy, cast iron base with rubber on the bottom, so it doesn't slide around at all. The joints are tight and don't wobble, and the screw holds the tweezers firmly. Over all good quality. The reason I only put 4 stars is because the tip of the tweezers are very fine so it's difficult to hold larger things. I make jewelry as a hobby and for gifts, hoping soon to move up into selling in an online store, and for me this works perfectly.

Great third hand for soldering jewelry, or working on electronics. The base has just the right amount of weight to keep it in place and keep it counterbalanced when something heavy is in the jaw. The jaws of the clamp hold the tweezers quite securely with no walk off when tightening. The tension of the cross lock tweezers is fairly strong, yet the action is very easy to operate (even with arthritic hands). If you are going to use these to hold material for soldering, keep in mind that the whole thing becomes a heat sink. I added some carbon fiber to the jaws to prevent some of the heat dissipation, and they work just fine. You could also order other styles of cross lock tweezers to fit into the base it's fairly universal! Great buy for the price!!

I've never written an Amazon review, but I feel compelled to do so now because this product is bad to the point of hilarity. The metal clamp portion is not actually metal, but some sort of clay material that was painted metallic silver. I tightened the knob for the clamp tightly and left it overnight and the next day i found it in two pieces. Photo evidence attached. The tweezer works great though, I mount it on a vice.

This is a great tool; really well made, solid construction and so easy to work with. I originally bought it for craft work, however it now has a permanent spot on my workbench. I have found endless uses for it, including jewellery and bead work. It will be your best friend for fine soldering work too.

The tweezer is larger than I was expecting. I know, right? You think tweezer and you think of something used to pluck the small hairs around your eyes or pick up really small items that you've dropped on your hobby desk. These babies are like needle nosed pliers. Don't get me wrong, they're still useful (though I haven't really used mine yet). I mean, a person does need to clamp onto things and hold them for an extended period of time...like when they're waiting for the glue to set. They're just not what I was expecting or needing.

This third hand, while economic, does it's job well and is easy on the wallet. It's a great tool if you're a beginner in what it is you need a third hand for, or if you need a quick and cheap replacement. My main drawback with this is of course: I get what I pay for. Meaning the joints don't feel as secure as they can be, the solution for this is to use it lightly and quickly, prolonged and heavy use will just mean coming right back here for another or getting a better one.
