I have lots of books on this and similar topics and this is by far my favourite. The text is clear and gives thorough examples of how relative value techniques can be applied. While investment experience will certainly help while reading this book, detailed knowledge is not assumed or required.

Most fixed income books out there pretty much go through an academic treatment of fixed income. In contrast, Fixed Income Relative Value analysis discusses actual relative value strategies that are implemented in fixed income trading. The authors provide insight into the fixed income world through their actual experience in the market. The techniques described by the authors may not be the simplest for most people to understand, but this book is written pretty well so that at least makes the journey more enjoyable.

This is THE GUIDE for quantitative relative value analysis of one of the most important markets in the world, the Fixed Income markets. The statistical models and the step-by-step selection and hedging process detailed in this text are indispensable. In my opinion, it is one of the most practical books I have found on the subject.
