with such poor ratings WHY is this product still being offered ?

It is a very functional product. Served my temporary purpose in determining the psi my mechanical fuel pump was producing when I was having carb issues. I left it on there still working.

What size thread is that 1/4 female?

I believe its 1/4 NPT like every other one - the problem is the gauge is crap anyway. I was just using to make sure I had pressure because I went to electric pump and wanted to make sure I had enough output to feed the carb. I used mine and then got another better gauge but it served its purpose and now in my 15 year box of random stuff - may just be an inline to test fuel flow on mowers or trouble shooting vehicles. This one looks plastic besides? GlowShift 3/8” Fuel Line Fuel Pressure Barbed Push Lock T-Fitting Adapter - 1/8-27 NPT Sensor Port - 304 Stainless Steel - Fits Hose with 9.5mm ID Inner Diameter - Includes Clamps looks like a better one that you can buy better gauge
