T**K
that sucker will break off when you finally hook that nice yellow-eye. For anyone who's not familiar with these ...
These things are killer on rockfish and ling cod. Unfortunately, the colors I usually use were about three times the price of the yellow/red ones when I ordered, so I'm going to have to try something new. DO NOT forget to install the bumper because when the metal piece flutters down and hits your knot about a thousand times, that sucker will break off when you finally hook that nice yellow-eye. For anyone who's not familiar with these lures, you drop it to the bottom, either straight down from the boat or cast it out and bump it back until it's right below you. You want to lift it a good several feet off the bottom, typically 5-6, with each bounce, and let it flutter down in between. I use a 7.5' medium action rod with 30# braided line and I'm fishing in about 150-200' of water over a rock/shell bottom. I've caught every kind of rock fish, true cod, ling cod, and even halibut on these for many years.
