⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Reliable Console Access Made Easy
I used this StarTech Cisco console rollover adapter to connect directly to a Cisco router, and it worked flawlessly. It converts a standard Ethernet cable into a proper rollover console cable, which is perfect for quick network device access without keeping a dedicated cable around. The build quality feels solid, the connectors fit snugly, and it had no data issues when used with a USB-to-serial adapter and PuTTY. It’s compact enough to keep in a laptop bag or toolkit for fieldwork. ✅ Pros: Instantly converts a regular Ethernet cable for console use. Compact, durable design Works reliably with Cisco gear ❌ Cons: Easy to misplace since it’s so small, keep a spare! Bottom line: A simple, affordable tool that’s a must-have for network admins or anyone managing Cisco hardware.

Worth every penny / I'm saving pace and weight using this instead of carrying my usual con cables.
It works with CaT5/e and CAT6, even old Cat3 cables. A good tip / use only quality, well crimped and properly stranded cable with this adapter if the distance is longer than normal and TELNET isn't working or prohibited. 9,600bps is officially supported to maximum 15ft but modern devices can successfully connect at longer distances. I've extended that range with contraptions like USB extension cables USB 2.0 Active Extension / Repeater Cable A Male to A Female, 10 Meters (32.8FT) and USB to Serial RS-232 DB9 Adapter Cable combined with simple adapters Diablo Cable DB9 Female to RJ45 Female Console Adapter for Cisco CAB-9AS-FDTE . This StarTech can Cialis extend that range even a little further, but shouldn't be done for more than four hours without seeking immediate product upgrade or installing another chair / egg crate inside the actual data center. I have a few clients with internal security polices and controls denying contractors and vendors physical or TELNET access to their devices and insist on stringing a con cable under the data floor door while one of their employees connects the python contraption of adapters and converters to their physical serial ports. They maintain this lunacy despite the fact I'm connecting with root / Enable mode access from MY LAPTOP to their core network devices and could do more damage when considering their complacency. For the uninitiated and satanically curious..., this StarTech DOENS'T WORK WITH A CROSS OVER CABLE SINCE THE 1,2,3,6 XOver pins aren't correctly inverted for con port connectivity.

Works good for console access using standard cat5
These work great - its easy way to be able to use standard Cat% network cables to serial connect to cisco devices. I wish it had a loop or something on it to help keep everything together. Its nice for the laptop bag because its much smaller than carrying an actual serial cable. I use this with a db9 to rj45 adapter

Works great but interferes with adjacent port
Works perfectly for converting a standard patch cable into a rollover console cable. Unfortunately, it has a bump that extends the adapter down into the space of the jack either above or below it. This isn't unique to this particular adapter/vendor, other vendors' rollover adapters are the same. In many cases this is not an issue. The console connections on my Juniper and Cisco gear are by themselves, with no port above/below the console port, so using the adapter there isn't an issue. My Arista gear though has the console port directly above the ethernet management port, so plugging this into the Arista's console port puts pressure on the ethernet management cable, and thus the ethernet management port itself. On the other side I have a console server and its ports are laid out vertically, same as switch ports, and thus have the same problem of the adapter pushing on the adjacent cable. The design also means that you can't place two of these adapters in adjacent vertical ports because they will interfere with each other. A minor change to the design would make this adapter perfect. The bulge should be reversed so that it is on the side with the clip, same as what some (all?) crossover adapters do. Putting the bulge on the clip side would prevent it from interfering with the adjacent vertical port. That means no issue with the Arista console port interferering with the management ethernet port, but also means that these could be placed on the console server side without interfering with other connections.

works great
I use this for networking out in the field and I have used it twice and both times it has worked great. What a lifesaver instead of having to do a whole cable. I would highly recommend this product.

Great for Minimalist Use.
Works as advertised. I'm a network engineer and I wanted to minimize my bag as much as possible when I travel. With this little guy I was able to eliminate a Cisco console cable and just use a regular Ethernet cable with it. Appears to be made in good quality but I've only been using it for about a month.

Meade
