Absolutely thrilled that I found this
After 'discovering' this on AliExpress and finding it interesting, I slept on it a bit. More recently, our refuse container developed a split in the side - one of the big trash containers that are robotically picked up and dumped by hydraulic arm. While considering methods of patching or repairing the crack, I remembered this tool. Thankfully, it was available on Amazon (AliExpress can take weeks or months to arrive) and priced fairly. I ordered this one as it would arrive the soonest. Zero regrets! This thing was a breeze to figure out and use. Within minutes of opening the box, I had the first few wires embedded in the plastic can, and was well on the way to securing the split. I can't stress how simple this tool is to use. You simply insert the chosen wire into the tool, press the trigger and gently press the wire into the plastic where you need it. The wire heats up very quickly (like within a second or so) and I had no difficulty controlling the placement, etc. Once the wire is in place, you release the trigger and allow just a moment (>1 second) for the plastic to cool enough to reharden, then pull away the tool. I placed about 40 wires into the rather long crack, and it held firm. After that step, I used a pair of wire cutters to snip off the leads for each wire. I will say this one my only gripe about the tools included in this set. The wire cutters included are not 'flush cut' style cutters, so you are left with 1mm of wire sticking out of the repaired surface. I have an array of such tools, so I had a flush-cut set of clippers which made quick work of the excess. Due to the need for a really smooth surface inside the refuse container (to prevent ripped trash bags), I opted to use a rotary tool with a grinder bit and file down the sharp edges of wire. As a final step, I attached the smoothing tip, included in the set, to the tool and used it to gently massage the plastic around the crack and smooth it into place to 'seal' the seam. While mostly cosmetic, it should also help prevent moisture and odor from escaping the container. In other applications, like repairing something you intend to 'finish' with paint or other treatment, this step is probably a necessity. Again, it was surprisingly intuitive and easy, with a shallow learning curve. I am frequently impressed when I discover a new tool which makes a task exceptionally easier than without that tool, and this is definitely one of those tools. Without it, my options were limited to some type of adhesive to attempt to close the crack, or trying to fit a sheet of thin metal to the outside and secure it in place with fasteners like screws or rivets. While it would work, the damage would be very visible and present further potential for problems. Using this tool, I was able to repair the damage in a way which is only noticeable on close inspection.

Easy to use
Must buy for plastic welding it can save you some money by simply welding the parts together. Very easy to use and it cools down really fast so there is not too much worrying about the gun tip burning anything if you set it down highly recommend

50 WATT PLASTIC WELDER
It is a great tool! I did find, and I am glad I purchased two different wattage's because the 100 watt heats way too fast in a specific are and when the plastic is fairly thin, that could pose a problem. I purchased the 50 watt which heats up and it takes a little time which allows me to not be so concerned that I will ruin the plastic in that tiny area. I AM REALLY GLAD I PURCHASED BOTH!!!!!

Where has this been all my life?
This kit is fantastic. I bought it 2 years ago. I can fix ANYTHING now... ok so maybe that's hyperbole, but I love how solidly I can fix plastic with this thing. Initially I thought the idea was amazing but also too good to be true. Not so! The staples add a ton of strength to the repair, and they are easily covered with filler material. They heat up instantaneously and cool down almost as quickly. The hot knife attachment is indispensable. I use that more than anything. What I don't like: -I have no clue what plastic the filler rods are made of. In fact, I'm pretty sure at least the black ribbon rods are a type of hot melt glue. They may all be. I haven't read the description since I bought this, and if there was an insert in the kit, it's gone now. They really should have put a label on the bag the rods came in. -hot melt glue will never be as strong as using the same type of plastic as filler. I personally stopped using the black stuff and haven't touched any of the other colors. Though even if you take those out of the equation, this kit is still a great deal. -I wish the tip of the hot knife was bigger. The dwell time needed for thick hdpe (my garbage bin) is long, and as the knife sinks in, the plastic oozes up inbetween the two halves of the knife. Once you move it around, that bit makes the repair a little messy. It takes getting used to. -my biggest gripe is the internal cooling... there is none. The unit overheats so quickly. There must be a self resetting thermal fuse/thermistor circuit in there because after a short while, the white led goes out and the knife goes cold. I have to wait at least 10 minutes for it to cool down before it's usable again, even in colder weather. I didn't know this at first, so when it happened the first time, I nearly junked the thing. I understand electronics though. There was no burnt insulation smell, so I gave it a sec, and sure enough, it started working again. The next version needs to have louvers in the plastic shell, at minimum. Preferably, it would have active cooling. I want a much longer duty cycle. Some of the repairs I have done are quite extensive. In my pictures, I show my unfinished garbage bin repairs and my bumper's rock shield that I rebuilt with donor plastic from my broken wheel well shield.

This thing works really good and is alot of fun to use.
Honestly this thing is super cool! This was my first time ever using something like so. I was repairing my quads plastics and it did such a good job repairing and making it strong again. Its really fun to use and satisfying seeing the time and effort you put into it with the cool patterns it has. I will say the only complaint I do have is that it doesn't come with enough S shaped staples. Sure you get 200 but I ran through all of them which to be fair was a very big project BUT all the other staples just are only used for very specific breaks. The thinner one with little wiggles works good but I feel the S is definitely the better of the 4. Oh and it gets very very hot very fast! Use a fan or something while doing it as well so you dont inhale any of the smoke from the melted plastic. I'd buy it again and the people I showed were impressed and fascinated how it works.

Spend $30 to save HUNDRED$!
Bought this in hopes of repairing an expensive Land Rover grille that was cracked. It freakin’ worked like a charm! Saved me from spending $500 I didn’t have. Can’t wait to fix more broken parts with it. Great value!

Worth Every Penny
I’ve had the for 3 years, and over that time I’ve had multiple projects where this has saved me so much time and money with buying replacement panels. This tool is amazing and worth every penny. I’ve repaired many quad plastics and automotive panels. Between the plastic welding and laying JB-Weld on top in some cases, the panels come out stronger than original. Amazing tool

What a tool !
I used to make plastic repairs with a plastic weld soldering iron, and used staples for reinforcement. A recent wind storm took a tree down on our property, and took my deer feeder with it. The mechanism worked, but the plastic housing was destroyed. I started looking for a new one. The new feeders are junk. Then I saw this on Amazon. Am I glad I did. This is so easy to use, and It was 1/3 the price of a new feeder. I had the feeder looking like new and running in about an hour. The configurations of the reinforcements are perfect. The only down side is the pair of cutters that comes with the kit do not flush cut the ends of the reinforcements. I had to buy a pair that cut flush, and cut steel wire. I would recommend this tool to everyone, because everyone has plastic things they just toss when they break. This saves you money. It save me $90.00.

It works!
This welder replaces one I returned when it quit after very short usage. This one arrived very quickly, has a good sturdy case and did the jobs required of it. So far, so good.
