Can It be Hung Vertically as well ?

It does not have hangers to be hung vertical , but the print would look fine if you did. You would have to install your own hardware.

No, its the other way around as you can see in picture (24 vertical and 36 horizontal).

is this one piece and does it require just one hook?

It is one piece, has two hooks. Very nice and we love it.

Is the background black or brown?

It’s honestly hard to tell, but I think it’s a really dark brown. Especially given the other warm tones in it. We have ours on a greige wall and it looks awesome!
