Compact and easy to set up!
Compact and easy to set up! If you need custom cases for these as it's fairly new to the product line, google around for 3d printing services. At least 2 vendors have custom cases for this model that were nicer than the usual acrylic cases. The 2gb ram really makes a difference with multimedia applications.

I started with this product and it works properly if you follow the instructions on the ARMBian website. I could install ROS framework and I will start with the GPIO to connect some sensors.

The USB stick works fine and is working properly on my pc
Piece of junk... Installed Orangepi on a sd card. was able to boot up. Stuck a USB stick in the port to the right of the network plug and the device immediately shut itself off and will not work. The USB stick works fine and is working properly on my pc, but the Pi appears dead, but when the power is plugged in it just makes it extremely hot (I have the heat sinks installed and they are burning up). Do yourself a favor and just go for a Raspberry Pi. I have had many of them and never had any issues like this.

really nice looking, colorful paperweight
All those features and no clue.I downloaded and installed the armbian image for the Orange Pi Plus 2E.And, got nothing but a media center in Chinese. It comes with no instructions. The armbian image I got from poking around the internet and searching for Orange Pi won't boot. So, for $ 73, so far, I've got a really powerful, really nice looking, colorful paperweight. It may not be a raspberry pi. It's a raspberry pi wannabe, and a raspberry pi works better, costs lessand comes with more support.Unless you read and speak fluent chinese so far it's been a waste of time and money.Buy a raspberry pi instead. Cheaper, works, better support, fewer headaches.BTW, it's not just an Orange Pi problem. I bought a Beagleboard shortly after it first came out. At least it booted to it's own internal OS - in English, a plus. It too was a real pain trying to boot an SD to something else. What I've found on the Orange Pi site in troubleshooting this problem is that apparently it can be picky about the cards and the power supply.Well, I've got a handful of SD cards that boot just fine on the Raspberry Pi 3. The power supply I got (recommended from Amazon) boots the system or I wouldn't even get the Chinese media screen. So, based on those facts, I'm not sure that it's the media or the power supply that are the problem.

I bought Amazon orange pi Plus 2E and it looks like a page in Chinese and I do not understand how I turn it to English and how I put Raspbian to work.George

Shenzhen Xunlong made this Opi for you
Bang for buck the OPI Plus 2e is a solid deal. This particular board was produced based on feedback from the Armbian community. Some unnecessary components were removed (USB-SATA bridge), and it was optimized--each USB port is its own host.. no USB ports on a shared bus.Performanc Stuff:I'm able to iperf around the 700mbit range on the NIConboard flash is fast... I don't have a measurement handy, but I was quite pleased.wifi performance seemed okay.. although I made no effort to place it in a good location or optimize. The CPU handles concurrent threads really well.. I've slammed it with really high load averages and it's still responsive.Software Stuff:* use armbian unless you have a surplus of pride and need to build your own sub-par distro.* Sunxi-mainline kernel 4.7 now supports it well for console applications.. Gigabit and wifi works... Docker works. (no thermal protection in mainline builds yet--so use a heatsink and don't be stupid)* I've used it as a lightweight desktop with Armbian Legacy and it's pretty decent.* I've read there are some issues with the GPU using Kodi or Retroorangepi because the extra memory changes GPU address space around.. you may want to stick with a 1 gig orangepi for that use case.
