Works poorly does not fill or drip evenly

I thought the idea of a system that could produce a lot of pearls at one time would be a good idea for bulk molecular gastronomy. It sounded way better than trying to do it with just one syringe and dropping them one at a time, especially when trying to serve immediately. Enter the spherical caviar dispenser. It came in a cardboard box with adequate shipping protection, and I was excited to try it out. It comes with a little tray (I'm assuming that can hold about 75 ml of liquid, which is what they say should be the minimum for a vacuum), but when I didn't want to use it since the process would then be: fill the tray, fill the dispenser, dispense, then fill the tray again. I used a different tray that I could still ensure full vacuum suction. The box came with some instructions for making a mixture, but I decided to go with a different website's recipe. I tried to fill the dispenser as per their instructions, but it seemed like a lot of air was going in, and not a lot of liquid. I also expected the dispenser to be able to do more than one drop at a time, as per their picture, but that also didn't seem to be the case. I'll give it another try again, but as of now these first impressions are that it's a great idea, but it's hard to get going. Maybe I'll try the recipe the way they suggested.

I used this device for an agar agar spherication of strawberry cider. I struggled to get it to draw up the fluid and to dispense it reliably. At one point, the fluid just flowed out with the plunger in place (so a leak from somewhere else). I then switched to a squeeze bottle and managed to finish the remaining caviar in just a minute. This seemed promising when I saw it, and I will be keeping it cause I'm sure I will find a better use for it. But just learn how to use a squeeze bottle.

Bought it as a time saver for making caviar, but it did not work as advertised. Syringe does not has the suction enough to pull the liquid into the device, which by the way does not fit as would like into the provided plastic “cup”… will keep using my single hole device to produce my caviar pearls.

It looks like it should come with a tray for the liquid, but there is not one. In order for it to suck up the liquid like it should I have to have a lot of liquid since I don’t have a tray small enough to get the liquid level high enough. The package also says that the instructions are inside but they weren’t so I’m not sure if they intended to have a tray or if it is missing Or if it is defective and shouldn’t have to have the liquid level high. Other than saying “instructions inside“ the box doesn’t give a clue about the contents and the amazon description is vague.

We do lots of molecular cooking in our house. This was impossible to use and the instructions showed a completely different device. One that actually looked like it might work. The instructions for making the pearls that came with the kit were also the wrong ratios and very unclear. Concentrate it said. What kind? Just juice? Frozen concentrate? Just poor all the way around. Do better.

Item defective upon arrival and Amazon will not allow returns on this. Why, I don't know. Clearly not a food or perishable item. Not happy.... I'm out the money and I have a worthless product. Really Amazon???

It does work but the gasket needs upgrading with PTFE or silicone as the one it comes with leaks air a little. because of this when you pull the syringe it doesn't hold the full vacuum and releases half of the liquid.
