Honey Extractor Uncapping Needle Roller for Beekeeping tool

We love this tool! We dont have as much wasted honey using this, and it keeps the honeycomb intact. Makes the process faster. As with any tool...it does get gunked up with wax every now and then. We just scrape it out quick, and its good to go.

Worthy of a review! This was my first harvest ever and I only had thirty medium frames to process. With that said however I have to say that this worked FAR better than anticipated based upon some of the reviews I read. I did all thirty frames in a row without cleaning the tool in any way in between. It didn’t “gum up” at all and did a great job piercing all cappings such that the extractor was able to get every last drop of honey. My honey was at an average moisture level of 16%, so it’s not like I had particular runny honey or any reason it would have been easier for me. I also very much appreciated the complete lack of mess and the fact that all wax was preserved and returned to my bees. It pierced the cappings and, of course, left a tattered appearance to the cells. The honey came directly out of the extractor and passed through a two stage, bucket mounted, strainer one time and yielded perfectly strained honey without any further filtering of any kind. After finishing I placed my supers back out on the hives and, without exaggeration, I went out just 18 hours later and removed the supers to find that my bees had cleaned and perfectly repaired any and all comb damage. Looked like brand new perfect comb! Ready to begin filling again. I never touched my decapping knife once and at this point I have no reason to believe I’ll ever use anything other than this simple tool for decapping. First harvest of 44.5 pounds of beautiful, dark, delicious honey officially in the books!

Much less mess and wax clots clogging my strainers. As someone who doesn’t want a lot of wax to reclaim this roller has been great! Makes uncapping a much easier, quicker, and less messy process. Decent quality has a few flaws but for the money you can’t beat it.

Just extracted a medium super, used this tool for most of the frames. The advantage over slicing off cappings is that all of the honey stays in the frame and gets extracted in the extractor, if you cut off cappings you're cutting off honey as well and you have to separate that honey from the cappings, which adds work and you lose honey. Also, you leave all of the cells in the frame at full height so it's less work for the bees to repair and rebuild. The cappings that I strained from 2 1/2 gallons of honey was about 1 cup. Not good if you're trying to collect wax, but very good if you want max honey yield. This is a tool for small volume/ hobby beekeepers. This efficiently punctures the cappings, but some honey and cappings get stuck to the tines and it's difficult to remove it. After 6 of 10 frames, I started to use a standard dining fork to scape the cappings off/ open, which was a little slower but did not collect cappings. 30 seconds per side, 1 minute per frame, not a lot of time. Extracted 100% of the honey with minimum wax to strain out. If you have only a few supers to extract, I recommend that you use a fork or capping scratcher. This roller is more trouble than it's worth relative to other methods.

I use this to prick holes in berries and grapes for freeze drying. Works better and easier to clean than the metal one I had.

It works well for a handfull of frames and then clogs up. I don't think that's the fault of the manufacturer, but the design. Unless it could be made with teflon or something that the honey and cappings wouldn't stick to.

This was our first time extracting honey and when I saw this tool I just had to try it! The tines perforate the wax cap and keep the integrity of the cell. We didn’t want to danage the cell or end up with a bunch of wax at the end and this tool was perfect for that! *inexpensive *easy to use *almost no wax waste (about 1/8 cup after rolling 18 frames) *cleaned it with boiling water after we were done Don’t hesitate to try it!

This is an awesome, time saving device. Highly recommend
