Works perfectly!!!
I’m just happy that I got back into Reolink system. The software is easy to use and there is no need for subscriptions. It’s straight to the point and responsive!!! What I don’t like is the software putting ads on it but as least it’s not constantly popping up and telling me to subscribe

Great system and even better Custom Service support
This a great camera system. It is perfectly priced. Reolink has the best customer support I've ever seen in a company. If you have an issue they respond within hours. Not kidding. I emailed their tech support at 8:30 PM and they responded by 8:53 PM. After working through my issue, the problem was solved less than an hour later. Their customer service is the best. I have had this camera system now for over two years and I have had zero major issues with it. I think most of the issues that arise are small technical issues that usually happen when the system (firmware) is updated. You may have to reset some settings. However, I think you can save system settings and then reload them. The system has never failed. Cameras Reolink continues to improve the quality of their cameras. And once you have the system installed upgrading is as simple as unplugging the old camera and plugging in the new one. I have 4M cameras and 5M cameras and the 5M cameras produce a high-quality image. The 4M cameras are good but the 5M cameras are superior. I can only image how awesome a 4K camera would be. Motion detection is awesome. There are a ton of controls that allow the motion detection to be set up for your personal needs. Getting notified on your phone that someone is at your front door is worth every penny you might spend on the system. Mac App The client on my Mac is super slick. It is easy to navigate and configure. Reolink continues to push updates to keep the client updated and fix issues. The client continues to improve. With one of the latest updates you can now update the NVR firmware from your computer. Prior to this update you were required to copy it to a flash drive and update it directly on the NVR. iPhone app The app on my phone is also slick with a nice interface. The only issue I have sometimes is getting connected when trying to view a camera. Even on a super-fast WIFI network I will get connection errors and it may take several tries to finally get the camera to begin streaming. I should take a STAR off of the rating for this but there is so much more about this system that is great I am going to leave it at 5-STARS. This issue may even have something to do with my home WIFI. So, 5-STARS it is. If you are looking for a surveillance system get this one. It is a great system. It is easy to set up. It is easy to use. You won't break the bank getting it. You can always start with the NVR and a camera or two and add cameras at a later date. That is what I did. I ran extra CAT-5 cables when installing the first two cameras and then easily added three more cameras. I highly recommend Reolink.

Product was new and packaging for shipment was Good
This was a replacement for a Reolink NVR RLN-8 that I purchased 10 years ago. The hard drive disk was no longer functional on my old NVR. This new unit was the same but was white instead of black and had an on-off switch which the old unit did not have. The new unit was easy for me to set-up because the cameras were already installed. The packaging used for shipment was very good and the NVR was new and in good condition when it arrived.

Solid NVR for local recording with no subscription required
Using this NVR as the backbone of my home security setup with four cameras and it has been solid. The onvif compatibility makes it easy to add cameras from different brands. Recording is consistent and reviewing footage is straightforward through the Reolink app. The setup process requires reading the manual but the instructions are clear. Local storage means no subscription fees which was a major factor in choosing this setup. The device runs quietly and the build quality is sturdy.

I can see clearly now.
Clear picture of what is going on. This is great electronic device. Recommend for use with security cameras. My installer liked it also

Reliable NVR—Solid Performance After 2 Years
Reliable NVR—Solid Performance After 2 Years I’ve been running this NVR for about 2 years now, and it’s been a very solid system. It handles all 8 of my hardwired PoE cameras without any issues—no lag, no dropouts, just steady performance. My setup includes a doorbell camera, two wide-angle units, and five dome-style cameras, and everything runs through this without a problem. With the 2TB storage, I get around 9 days of recording before it starts overwriting, which is more than enough time in most cases to go back and find what I need. I have the unit installed in a media cabinet and running on a UPS, so even during power outages the system stays online. That’s been a big plus for reliability. For viewing, I’m using HDMI over Ethernet to send the feed to my main TV, so I can monitor everything from the living room. The app also makes it easy to check in from anywhere. Once the initial install was done, it’s been basically set-it-and-forget-it. It just runs. As part of my setup, I’m running a full Reolink ecosystem with both NVR-based cameras and cellular units all tied together in one app (see my other reviews), and everything integrates well. If you’re looking for a dependable NVR that can handle a full system and run long-term without headaches, this is a great choice. Set It. Run It. Trust It.

Unreliable. Stopped recording multiple times and completely died.
I purchased this NVR in 8/2022, so I have had it for eleven months. I have the NVR connected to one Reolink camera. The NVR is not connected to the network; it is a standalone, isolated device. Twice the NVR has inexplicably stopped recording footage. The first time, the hard drive ran out of space despite all the settings being correct to overwrite the recorded footage. I fixed this by upgrading the firmware per Reolink's support site, but there is no reason it shouldve stopped working in the first place. The second time, there was 19GB of space free, but the NVR was not recording until I rebooted it The NVR interface is relatively simple and it has provided PoE fine to my one camera. The hard drive spinning is a bit loud, but understandably any package deal (both NVR and storage included) will have cheaper components/drawbacks. However, for what you pay for this device, and the simple configuration you may have (for me, there is just one camera connected to this box meant to record and overwrite- like a dashcam in a car), there should not be glitches. The reason it stops recording randomly is a big deal because a normal homeowner like myself is not going to check for the blinking red recording light daily. The reason I do check is because the first time it stopped recording, it made me lose trust in this device. Within the last week, the recording light on my NVR stopped blinking, yet this time it was still recording. I contacted support and was getting about one email a day (they're based across the world and reply around 5am once daily). Rather than hash things out in a timely manner on the phone, we worked on troubleshooting for a week. Somehow, the NVR wont even power on now- as if the unit is completely dead. I will update this review accordingly with how support handles a replacement/refund. I like the Reolink cameras for how affordable they are to the competition, but the NVR is unreliable. You could pair these with another NVR software possibly and get the best of both worlds.

I went to the school of hard knocks on this unit
The product works great! But there was significant lost effort integrating my Reolink PTZ IP cameras to this NVR. The support website has a mention of not using the desktop app to automatically update firmware. That app checks your firmware and says its up to date while it is not accurate. I went on the Reolink firmware downloads portal and discovered both my cameras and NVR had outdated firmware. I manually downloaded them, unzipped them, pointed the desktop app firmware tool to these new files and it updated great. After alot of self help it works now. I was trying to trust the Reolink desktop app to automatically add the cameras to the NVR. The desktop app cant do that. You have to use a monitor and mouse connected to the NVR directly and use its native interface to manually add some of the Reolink PTZ IP cameras. Not all models, but definitely my units. The other challenge was this NVR ships with a HDMI cable and has an HDMI port on the NVR. That port didnt work for me. I found an old VGA monitor cable and the display showed up good. Could be my monitor needed its inputs changed. I suppose any video contractor may already know all these fixes. But if Reolink sells direct to consumers they would benefit greatly by developing a better startup & configuration manual. Developing a few youtube videos would be beneficial... Will work just fine with any Reolink directly connected cameras to NVR or ...
Use it for couple of months - no issues at all. High Quality unit, set up takes 5 minutes. Will work just fine with any Reolink directly connected cameras to NVR or connected through your local network with POE or regular power supply. Fan is quite loud, box itself is cold all the time so it works good, but the noise will be a pain so place it somewhere you will not hear it.

Awesome POE NVR!
So far so good. Video quality is awesome. Easy to setup. Pro: Easy to setup and use. Can see your cameras from anywhere. No need to program your route with port forwarding. Cons: Can only use Reolink camera's. Don't get me wrong their camera are very nice but if you had a mix of IP cameras you are out of luck. On the Reolink cameras will work. The other problem I found is that you need to run all the cameras back to the POE Reolink RLN8-410. The NVR will not see other camera plug into other POE switches on your network.

Great experience with system so far
Great experience with system so far. Everything has been very plug and play. Even for remote access via my cell phone. No need to port forward. PROS -Tons of customizable options to meet your needs -Ease of use -Ease of remote viewing setup CONS -Expensive (but if it lasts more than 4 years, its worth the price)

Works perfectly and easily
It's not often that home surveillance systems work so flawlessly and simply, but this one does. Just plug it in, set the schedule, and it goes to work.
