breaks when frozen
I always have one out front, so I can be noisey and see how much rain actually fell. I like the unit but.... The problem is that if it then freezes overnight it cracks. I have been through 3 of these.

Just what I needed
I was looking for a way to track how much water my lawn was getting and this does the job. The free-floating red plastic piece always sticks to the side instead of floating on top of the water so I can read the level from my window, but that’s ok.

Not good for emptying after Each rain.
The floating red line marker comes out when you empty the rain gauge. It takes a lot of manipulation to get the red floating line reader back in the right way so it will float when rain is in the tube. Sending back
