I'm glad they have replacement caps; my old one broke!
When I set up my 105 crankset, I didn't realize that my crank arm wasn't on all the way. This caused the crank cap to shear and break. Luckily, this one is exactly the same as my old one, so it worked perfectly as a replacement. The only complaint I have is that you need a specialty tool to install it if you don't want to risk damaging it. Other than that, it's great.

Perfect Fit on Deore Crankset
This is a simple item but my cap was missing from my crankset kit. You set the bottom bracket bearing preload by holding the crank arm against the BB, but this is the precise way to set BB preload and it keeps the dust out. It fit perfectly on my Shimano Deore crankset, left side.

Perfect for 12 speed Ultegra crankset
I bought a used 12 speed Ultegra crankset that was missing this part. Perfect replacement that was easily installed with the Shimano tool. Hand tighten only.

A must to have ... read my review
This is a critical part of your bike and if it comes off you have a long walk home. Mine came off twice resulting in a 10 mile walk home. First time it came off the pedal detached long walk home. I bought the aluminum one here on AMAZON a year later while cycling that one came long walk home. Heres what you should know both were on tight but I ride a lot and the vibrations eventually caused them to loosen so you should buy the tool and check and tighten regularly to avoid this situation. Buy the one recommended for you bike because its aluminum don't mean its better this plastic one thread are longer and fits snugger than aluminum and handles vibrations better get a backup and the tool and keep with you when cycling . This is the best fit product the aluminum threading was shorter .

works with 105
Needed to replace the stripped stock 105 fixing bold. This one has a shorter thread but works well. Tools attach well to it and it handles much better than plastic crap.

Requires a special tool to install. Good luck tightening it in without one
Works as expected, but I was disappointed to find out that a special tool was required to install it. It certainly would have been a lot more helpful if the ad had mentioned this.
