desertcart.com: The Hound of the Baskervilles: 150th Anniversary Edition (Signet Classics): 9780451528018: Doyle, Sir Arthur Conan, Perry, Anne: Books Review: The Hound of The Baskervilles - This is one of the semi classic novels that I have ALWAYS wanted to read. It is about murder in the Scottish Moors. Sherlock Holmes and Mister Watson are charged with solving the murder mysteries. As it turns out the murders are not being performed by a disgruntled individual, but by a large, vicious hound owned by the individual. This is a short, but good read. I highly recommend it. It is on most of the lists of the 50 novels that should be read before one dies. WLM of SC Review: I Saw It Before I Read It - Jeremy Brett has alwaya been my favorite Holmes. I read recently that he insisted upon portraying the Great Detective as close to Conan Doyle's writing as possible. It was at this time that I realized, as often as I had watched Mr. Brett's version, I had never read the tale, which happens to be one of my favorites. Imagine my delight at the discovery that much of the dialogue was lifted right from the original text, as was much of the action. I am content.

Good read
This was suggested for our book group. I somehow had expected something VIctorian and stuffy, but - while certainly a book of its time - was well-paced with interesting characters and plot. It will stick in my mind - not all books I read do!

Sherlock Holmes, The hound of the Baskervilles
Still reading it but so far very good, a little hard to understand but I'm really enjoying it.

Great Holmes mystery
This edition was originally published by Signet in 2001. I wanted to point out the error in describing this as the 150th anniversary edition. Doyle hadn’t even been born in 1851. The 100th anniversary would be correct, as Doyle published this novel in The Strand beginning in 1901. -Gary Spong October 2021

Anniversary Edition
I bought a copy as a gift for my husband and my daughter, both avid readers. One of the more popular Sherlock Holmes novels. Good introduction for my grandkids to the Holmes character.

It's a book
It has words. The words are in English but when you read them, you must read using a British accent.

There are one or two cracks in it, but this is Conan Doyle and Holmes at their best! The evocation of Dartmoor is excellent and gripping.
