Lady into bug story
My first impression of this was that the writer must have seen Cronenberg 's "The Fly". While the cause of the metamorphosis is different, the result is somewhat similar. Movie was something of a cross between The Fly, and Guinea Pig''s Mermaid in a Manhole. Special effects were good, but most of the effects were around small slimy eggs. While Cronenberg's special effects weren't as slick, the human to bug metamorphosis was more complete. All in all an ok story and movie for this genre, but not nearly as stomach churning as some reviewers have claimed.

Truly Freaky And Flinch-Worthy
A nightmare of body metamorphic horror awaits in Bite, when a trip to Costa Rica by three female friends has unexpected consequences. At first it didn't seem like much - just a nasty bug bite from a weird-looking insect. And something else bad may have happened there one night, but bride-to-be Casey (Elma Begovic) can't seem to remember exactly how it went. Was it just too much drinking, or something else? The trip was sort of an extended bachlorette adventure for the three friends, but once they get home, that bite just keeps looking nastier and nastier. She calls a doctor, but the doctor thinks it's just an ordinary bite - just clean the pus out, keep it clean and give it time, and everything'll be alright. The doctor's wrong. It's not an ordinary bite. And Casey isn't going to be okay. As things worsen and Casey's senses sharpen to superhuman levels, the special effects begin to really come into play. This is some of the most jarring, cringe-worthy transformation horror to be found, gruesome and strangely realistic given the freaky concept. In the early going, Bite had a bit of a hard time finding its footing, but it makes up for it later on as it gets faster, freakier and scarier; and as a certain incident that happened early starts to feel like it was more than meets the eye. Overall this is a four-and-a-half stars movie, but not for the squeamish.
