Great Product with some caveats. But you will love the results.
This is exactly as advertised. It is a castile soap with beeswax and other ingredients. It does not seem to contain significant amounts of lanolin, in any at all, like other saddle soaps I am accustomed to. This may make it undesirable for some uses where lanolin is important. I use their other Leather Salve and Leather Oil products, which are outstanding so I decided to give this a try. I purchased this because a pair of very expensive dress shoes were soaked in a recent rain storm and I was concerned about the dirt and any potential water damage so I gave them the full OtterWax treatment. After letting them dry with cedar shoe trees for 4 days I decided to tackle the job. With a soft brush, I found that the saddle soap foamed up nicely and cleaned my very dirty shoes, including the leather soles. It is not a harsh cleaner like Bick 1 so it takes a little more elbow grease to use it, but it did a great job and was gentle on the light walnut brown finish on my shoes. After allowing to dry, I followed up with Leather Salve, which I also worked in a bit, and then leather oil. Both were followed by allowing to soak in and dry, wiping with a soft clean cloth, and then buffing with a shoe brush. After the oil the shoes looked so good I almost didn't polish them. However, I did give them a good polish with shoe cream and then about 4 coats of neutral carnauba polish to bring out the shine and leather. These shoes now look as good as new and perhaps better, with a lot more depth to the shine. It is true that this soap is harder and not as oily as other brands and I would not recommend it unless you were to commit to working it well to allow the bees wax to emulsify and get into the leather then following up with either their leather salve or leather oil if not both. On the other hand, this allows the product to clean and not get into or darken the leather as much as more traditional versions. I think these guys are afraid of meat or something, because there are no four-legged oils in their products and just a touch of lanolin would make this stuff the master of all saddle soaps. I think that this stuff works best on a warm sunny day, which is funny because they make this stuff in Portland, OR. I was looking for gentle natural products to maintain or revive my handmade shoes and in essence to respect the leather. If that is what you are looking for, then Otter Wax is the stuff for you and you won't be disappointed. This will gently but thoroughly clean your leather and is a great first step to caring for leather products.

Good stuff
This is really good leather soap. Iโve cleaned boots and a leather apron. Just know this container may not last long, depending on the size of what youโre cleaning. But it was very effective.

Mild cleaner, perhaps best for regular maintenance
This isn't a miracle worker for stains, but it does a pretty good job. I bought this because it was made primarily of castille soap and beeswax rather than glycerin and lanolin, and I wanted to try a different, perhaps gentler, formula. The smell is very pleasant, definitely smells like orange oil. I didn't have much trouble emulsifying it, though I do admit it's not AS easy as glycerin-based saddle soaps. However, I don't feel like the difference is SO much that it's notable. I used a dauber brush, dipped in water (with excess shaken out) and rubbed it into the soap to create a thick foam. By light lydipping the brush back into water periodically, it was easy to maintain a rich lather. This did not get out deep set stains (marks from laces on my Timberlands and Vince Camuto blue oxfords) but did somewhat lift a VERY OLD, deep set mystery stain on my blue Vince Camuto oxfords (pictured). They did not completely remove the stain, but I find that it did a good enough job lightening it (especially given that the stain is YEARS old). Also (not pictured), I removed a grey stain (from normal finger grime, always touching the same spot) from my white/cream-colored Kate Spade purse by using my finger to firmly rub the soap into the spot and wiping with a tissue.

Soaps up, cleans well.
I use it on the leather on my bike. The saddle bags were weathered pretty good when I got it and this stuff cleaned them up well in one pass.

Otter Wax Saddle Soap - 2 OZ
I purchased the 2 ounce size as a trial and like the size and ease of accessing the soap. I find the packaging easier to open than some other saddle soap products. Regarding the soap itself, I find that a smaller applicator, something that is about 1 inch in diameter is very effective and I discovered that I needed to work a bit more to initially get enough soap on the brush for an adequate application of the product compared to other saddle soap products that I have previously used. After I got used to that I found that the Otter Wax Saddle Soap product applied very easily and the scent of the product is quite nice and very pleasant. I used this product for the first time on a pair of Timberland Euro Hikers and a pair of Asolo TPS 535 full leather hiking boots. I liked very much the results as the leather after using the Otter Wax product felt cleaner, if that makes sense, than the feel that I have experienced using other saddle soap products... perhaps it's the difference in lanolin content... I don't know. I have for years used Pecard and Obenauf's products as follow treatment up to saddle soap and rinsing for boots that I have that are much older than either the Timberland or Asolo items. I am considering checking out the Otter Wax Leather Salve. What I wish I could really learn about is what is the chemical ingredient difference between Otter, Pecard, Obenauf, and Fiebing's. I am considering adding a pair of Limmer's as well and they recommend a product that they make called Limmer Boot Grease. I am quite interested in anyone's comments about their experiences with these products as well. Thank you.

good for light cleaning
produces a very nice lather. Cleans light dirt well but for anything even remotely difficult to remove either takes multiple cleans or it doesn't come out at all. Upside is it is very safe for the leather.
